Rockies pound Padres

The Colorado Rockies got 18 hits, including four each from Brad Hawpe and Todd Helton, as they whipped the Padres 13-5 last night. Hawpe also homered and drove in 4 runs, while Ryan Spilborghs added 3 RBI. Pretty decent showing in the Mile High city, eh?

Re: Rockies pound Padres

I am surprised the Padres got pounded, because I know that they are neck-to-neck with the Dodgers in the NL West. The Dodgers lost last night too, but I think they will win tonight to make up for their mediocre performance. As you know the NL West Division is very weak where a .500 team can easily get into the Playoffs. Put a team like the Yankees or Red Sox in there and say, "goodbye". The Rockies have an advantage playing in Colorado so that takes away some brownie points off their incredible-18 hit night. And, would you believe they got only 13 runs off 18 hits? I would've expected close to 20 with those types of numbers.

Still a great accomplishment by the Rockies' organization.
