Troy Tulowitzki was activated from the disabled list Monday. Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki is back, hoping that a third chance proves to be the answer. The Rockies activated Tulowitzki and right-handed pitcher Kip Wells from the disabled list Monday. Wells will be the starting pitcher tonight against the Dodgers.
First baseman Joe Koshansky and right-handed reliever Juan Morillo were optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs to make room on the roster.
Wells has been out since April 28 because of surgery to remove a blood clot from his right hand. He is taking the place of lefty Mark Redman in the rotation.
Tulowitzki, who has been in a season-long struggle, opened the season as the Rockies’ starting shortstop and tore tendon in his left quadricep on April 29. He returned to the active roster June 20, but suffered a severe gash in the palm of his right hand July 4 when a bat he banged on the ground shattered. He went back on the disabled list a second time the next day.
