| Rockies use record 10 pitchers The Colorado Rockies set a unique and interesting record yesterday, using a NL-record 10 pitchers in a 9 inning game. Oddly enough, they won the game, beating San Diego 10-4. Elmer Dessens started but left in the third with a hamstring injury. Mark Redman, fresh from Triple A, replaced him. Matt Herges - the fourth pitcher of the evening - wound up getting the win. Four relievers were credited with holds, and Ramon Ortiz closed out the game. According to Rockies manager Clint Hurdle, he was actually on pace to use 15 guys at one point, if you can believe that!
