| Colorado botches comeback The Colorado Rockies trailed 8-3 in the 9th inning, scored six runs, and lost.
How, you ask? Well, according to the AP, "After Todd Helton doubled in a run with none out in the ninth off reliever Scott Eyre, Bobby Howry (4-4) was greeted by consecutive RBI singles from Garrett Atkins and Brad Hawpe. Tulowitzki followed with a three-run shot to put the Rockies ahead 9-8. Howry is the Cubs' closer while Ryan Dempster is unavailable because of a strained oblique muscle."
Then it was Chicago's turn. Mark DeRosa singled off Brian Fuentes to get things started, then with two down, pinch-hitter Koyie Hill singles. A throwing error by Kaz Matsui loaded the bases. Alfonzo Sorian came to the plate and promptly hit a two-run single to win the game for the Cubbies.
"Just when you think you've seen about everything, you haven't seen everything," Rockies manager Clint Hurdle told reporters afterwards.
He's not kidding. Wow. What a finish.
