Reports out of Tempe indicate that senior QB Sam Keller has left the team. He had been named the starting QB just friday night so this comes as quite a shock. For the full story go to:

Sophomore Rudy Carpenter took over for Keller when he got injured, and went on to lead the nation with a passer rating of 175.01. Carpenter played in nine games, completing 68.4% of his passes for 2,273 yards, 17 touchdowns and 2 picks. Keller, meanwhile, completed just 58.7% of his attempts for 2,165 yards, 20 scores and 9 INTs in eight games.

In fact, after reading that article, I'm convinced this was the right move. "According to the East Valley Tribune, several players requested a meeting with Koetter after the initial decision," it reads, "and told the coach they believed the job should go to Carpenter." So Carpenter, not Keller, was the guy who had the support of his teammates, eh? No wonder the senior wants to transfer.

Something seemed a little fishy with this. Reports are that Keller will be transferring to Nebraska. He will have to sit out this year, then will likely be the starter next year as Zach Taylor is a senior.

I haven't heard, but I know they are both very good so, unless Carpenter gets hurt, it shouldn't be too big of a deal for ASU.

I heard that Carpenter threatened to quit the team after Keller was named the starter, he is a sophomore and Keller a senior, so the switch was made with the future beyond this year in mind possibly. Rumors will fly around this for a while until someone steps up and speaks on it.
