COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- Ohio State and Oklahoma will play a home-and-home series in 2016-17.

The two traditional powers have met twice before, with the Sooners beating the Buckeyes in 1977 and Ohio State evening the series in 1983. "We still have a few details to work out, including where the first game will be, but we have an agreement in principle," Ohio State associate director of athletics Steve Snapp said Friday. "We want to play a marquee game every year, either home or away, and Oklahoma certainly fits into that category."

Well...Its a 10 year wait...kinda takes the edge off the meetings...it would be nice if they could meet more often then that.

A potentially great matchup. We will have to wait and see if it actually happens though. Ohio State once had a series scheduled to play the Huskers in the 90s and cancelled it when Penn State joined the conference using that as their excuse. They said they already had enough tough games on their scedule, but Husker fans always figured it had more to do with how scary good the Huskers were when they romped over Florida in the 95 title game.

I like what Ohio State is doing with there non-conference schedule. Over the course of the next 11 years, OSU will have a home-and-home with Oklahoma, Miami, USC, Va Tech, and they are in there second year with Texas. For any shortcomings they may have, one of them is not scheduling pushovers.

Oh, that should be a good one. I agree with cjg - Ohio State is one of several schools experimenting with their nonconference schedules, and I for one am liking the match-ups that are coming out of these kinds of practices. Here's hoping that both the Buckeyes and the Sooners are still top 10 programs when they lock horns in 10 years.

Ten years is a long time to wait to see these two teams lock horns. I would rather see Ohio State extend the contract with Texas to make it an ever year meeting. This could turn into a great rivalry similar to the Michigan game. And you know how Buckeye Fans hate that team up north!!!!!!!!
