| Re: 2006 UMO Football I think the bigger school always gives the smaller school a real nice payday for taking an arse whoopin' like this. Usually 500k to a cool million or more if I'm not mistaken. A smaller university like UMO can usually benefit from something like that. And hey, you never know... they could pull off the upset!

| Re: 2006 UMO Football There's a lot of the smaller schools that want to play the big name football programs. Part of it is the money, a million bucks is a ton of money to a small school that doesn't have the athletics income of a powerhouse. Part of it is getting exposure. Many of these games make it onto TV and that helps in several ways. It helps with recruiting if the school can tell the recruits they'll be on TV more often than the competition. Even though UMO might not be in the hunt for top tier prospects, the prospects they go after want to be on TV. Sometimes that can make the difference. Part of it is building the program. Florida State is the old example. They weren't a football powerhouse until fairly recent. Before then, Bowden would go anywhere to play anybody. They got whooped alot but it helped build the program and now they're one of the elite programs. 25-7 is absolutely respectable. It would be easy to lay down against a team like Nebraska. Boston College is no slouch but have a good day (and BC has a bad day) and you guys could pull the upset. IT COULD HAPPEN!
