Re: Greatest College Runner of All-Time Mike Rozier, Barry Sanders,Billy Sims,Marcus Allen, Earl Campbell, Ricky Williams, Lawrence Phillips, Archie Griffin, Herschel Walker, Bo Jackson, George Rogers, Eric Crouch even though he was QB, Curt Warner, Charles White, Reggie Bush, Wendell Tyler, Freeman McNeil, Ahmann Green, Adrian Peterson, Ron Dayne, Emmitt Smith, OJ Simpson, the list goes on. Best 1-2 RB duos: SMU pony express with Dickerson and James, Oklahoma State with Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas, Neraska with Mike Rozier,Roger Craig, and Tom Rathman, Auburn with Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown, Missouri with Tony Galbreath and James Wilder, USC with Reggie Bush and Lendale White. These are just the ones I can name off the top of my head at 3AM. All are from the modern era because I never saw the duo at Army with Glenn Davis and Doc Blanchard, though I guess they belong.

Re: Greatest College Runner of All-Time Impressive list so far, narrowing it down would be next to impossible, so I'm going to add to it instead: Ricky Bell, who many thought was robbed out of the 1975 Heisman; Anthony Davis; Tony Dorsett; John Cappelletti; Lydell Mitchell; Marshall Faulk; Steve Owens; Blanchard and Davis; the Golden Boy Paul Hornung... the list could go on and on. How about some dark horse candidates, such as the the leading rusher in Miami Hurricanes history, Ottis Anderson? Or Avon Cobourne, the leading rusher in Big East Conference history and a guy who amassed, according to WVU, 4 straight 1,000 yard seasons (counting bowl games)? Or how about the first player in NCAA history to rush for 7,000 career yards, R.J. Bowers of Grove City College? Dark horses, I know, but they at least deserve to be in the discussion, if ever so briefly.

Re: Greatest College Runner of All-Time You beat me to the punch on Cobourne; he was a great back and the all time leading rusher in Big East history. And as far as small college football goes, Bowers was the man. I saw him play a couple of times because I am close to Grove City, and he was pretty darn good!

Here is a link to Bowers and his record...who I had to look up...and I usually have a clue on who these guys are... http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2000/...in245024.shtml If we are going dark horse, maybe Ed Marinaro from Cornell who along Marcus Allen and Barry Sanders is the only other runner who has averaged more than 200 yards per game in a season. |

Re: Greatest College Runner of All-Time Bowers was actually a Steeler for a cup of coffee. He's out of the NFL now... he had been signed to play for the AIFL's Steubenville Stampede here in Steubenville, Ohio, but for some reason it didn't quite work out and he never played a single game for us. Don't know where or if he's playing now. And why not throw Marinaro into the mix. The more, the merrier, right?

Re: Greatest College Runner of All-Time How about Amos Lawrence North Carolina '77-'80. Four 1,000 yd years and did not need the bowl games to get there. Kelvin Bryant? three 1,000 yard seasons one of those was while Amos was getting his 1,000. And Kelvin in his senior season only gained 1,064 but only played 5 games. He was injured in the early going of the 4th game after amassing 885 yards and 15 TD's in his first three. No one really remembers either since they played during the Herschel Walker days. But Kelvin went on to win 2 player of the year honors in the USFL while going head to head against Mr. Walker.......Who's the best Eric Dickersom of SMU. Great vision quickness and lateral movement only held under 100 yards 4 times in college
