UCF and O'Leary

UCF signed head coach George O'Leary through 2015...

UCF is in the middle of one of the best recruiting areas in the country. I think O'Leary can definitely turn them into a team that will turn some heads over the next few years. Any other takers?

As a graduate of UCF (and a guy that lives all of 3 miles from the growing campus) I welcome the addition of O'Leary...No reason why going forward this can't be a powerhouse like Miami, Florida, or Florida State...

O'Leary was head coach at Georgia Tech from 1994 to 2001, amassing a 52-33 record and earning 2000's national coach of the year award. He was nominated for the award again after UCF's finish last season.

I agree Gotham. This guy is a great coach, he just flies under the radar now because of his one bad decision...

Re: UCF and O'Leary

The thing that got lost in the whole Notre Dame - resume thing was the fact that O'Leary had long since proven that he could flat out coach. He may of embellished his past to get his foot in the door, but he darn sure kicked it open with the job he did with Georgia Tech. UCF's got themselved a good one in George O'Leary, and its good to see that he's going to stick with that program and finish the job he's started there.

Re: UCF and O'Leary

That is exactly right. Yes he lied about his past, but at the same time this guy can coach. I this UCF is well on their way...

Hey, we are not a proud school...we will take other people's "great" rejects... ...UCF currently has an enrollment of over 40,000...(it was about 19,000 when I was in school and they were a 1-AA school in football)...so it is starting to attract some talent. Hopefully O'leary can get us to the nect level.

Re: UCF and O'Leary

They are in the right part of the country, there is no doubt about that. Even if they can get Miami, Florida, and FSU's left overs they should be in good shape.
