| Has college football been professionalized? E. Gordon Gee, president of Ohio State University said he is against the plus one playoff proposal because it is a professionalization of college football. The Buckeyes' football team in the 2005-'06 school year generated $60.8 million in revenue, with expenses of $32.3 million for a profit of $28.5 million. This at a school where the athletic budget was the first to go over $100 million. JS Online: Ohio State president sure could use a reality check I am sure this isnt the only school with big bucks involved. So, do you think college ball has been professionalized???

| Re: Has college football been professionalized? Gee is also the one that did away with the athletic department at Vandy, and 'blended' it with intramurals sports..collegiate athletics became professional with the advent of the NCAA, Bowl games, BCS, and especially the CFA. forbes ranks the value of NCAA football programs if they actually sold franchises. usually the top ten programs are valued at 300 mil plus. doctor Gee needs to wake up and realize whats happening in his world!! Why does every other NCAA sport playoff to a champion? why are they not considered professional? Is march madness a professional evolution?
