| 34 bowl games this year, 9 SEC tie in Two more bowl games have been added this year and the Papa John's.com Bowl now has an SEC / Big East Tie in. This makes a total of 68 teams to make bowl appearences out of 119 Division I teams, almost half. What do you think?

| Re: 34 bowl games this year, 9 SEC tie in New bowls mean more mediocrity Let me get this straight. College football refuses to do something rational like approve a plus-one format that will actually serve the public and provide a compelling finish to the season. But it has no difficulty signing on two more worthless bowl games that will put people to sleep. If my math is correct, the newly approved St. Petersburg Bowl (featuring the bottom dwellers of the Big East and C-USA) and the Congressional Bowl (which will have Navy against some riff-raff club from the ACC) bring the grand total of bowls to 34. Pretty soon, if your town doesn't have a bowl game, it could only mean one thing: You didn't want one! Does anyone care? Will anyone watch another meaningless bowl game featuring 6-6 teams that don't want to be there and did nothing to earn an invitation? Of course, ESPN is not only in the broadcasting business but now owns multiple bowls, including several of the newer ones. ESPN owning bowl games is a major conflict of interest. Football lovers claim any bowl game is a good thing. Kind of like Baskin-Robbins adding another flavor, right? Well, that's poppycock. Full Story

| Re: 34 bowl games this year, 9 SEC tie in When the bottom half teams of Conference USA start getting bowl invites, you know they system has sailed past the line of absurdity. Going to a bowl game used to be an honor. It used to mean something. Now with so many teams get in, it's been cheapened beyond belief. 68 of the, what, 119 D I-A teams will get bowl bids? Disgusting! No way they'll all be over .500.
