ABC Primetime Games "Out of the Monday Night Football business, ABC is set to serve up a regular dose of college football on Saturday night." I think this is going to be great for college football; what do you guys think? http://tv.yahoo.com/news/ap/20060516/114781962000.html

Re: ABC Primetime Games I love having a game to watch at night; especially good match ups like they are advertising. Why does it always seem that every time something happens its because of the BCS or somebody trying to make more money?

Re: ABC Primetime Games What other reason would there be? I mean, I'll love watching the Saturday night games too, but let's be realistic here. ABC Sports have been kings for the college football roost for as long as the BCS has been around. Now Fox has snatched that from them and, not wanting to just roll over and die, they've come up with this idea in an attempt to hang on to their share of the pie. But as long as it gets ratings and sticks around, we fans are the real winners here...

Re: ABC Primetime Games I do appreciate how they left their options open on several of the dates, to try and secure the best possible match-up. Last year Ohio State-Iowa was supposed to be College Gameday caliber, then OSU lost to Texas and Iowa lost too Iowa State, all of a sudden it wasn't nearly as interesting as it was expected to be. Hopefully ABC can avert any situations like this with their open scheduling.

Re: ABC Primetime Games That's definitely a huge plus. If there is a good game on I want to see it regardless of who was supposed to be playing. Hopefully ABC will give the viewers what they want each Saturday...

Re: ABC Primetime Games Hmm... desertrat raises one problem with this for me. Brent Mustberger. Why'd it have to be Brent Mustberger? Keith Jackson would've been ideal, but since he's retiring, why not Brad Nessler? And Herbstreit without Corso? Eh... just doesn't seem right. Not thrilled with the announce team. Should've been the "EA Sports" team -- Nessler, Corso, Herbstreit.

Re: ABC Primetime Games On the other hand, though, maybe those of us on the East Coast will get to see a little more of the Pac-10. Hmm, guess not... the schedule only has Nebraska at USC on Sept. 16 and Notre Dame at USC on Nov. 25 listed as non-regional broadcasts. So much for that, I guess.

Re: ABC Primetime Games Lefty, I would have liked to see some more of the PAC-10 as well. I always have a hard time assessing them when it comes to bowl time because we don't get a lot of them on the east coast....

Re: ABC Primetime Games The same day of the Nebraska-USC game ABC will be showing nationally the Oklahoma-Oregon game. It essentially will be a Big12vsPac10 doubleheader with the Pac10 teams hosting. By the same token, living in Pac10 country, we don't get to see ACC games very often since the idiots at the networks automatically assume we want to see Big10 games every weekend. Same goes for most SEC games, we get the premeire game on CBS but don't see many more than that unless ESPN covers it.

Re: ABC Primetime Games Will they be national games, though? The primetime schedule I looked at said "split coverage" which I assume means different regions get different games, right? Which also most likely means no Pac-10 for us on the East Coast, doggonnit.

Re: ABC Primetime Games Not to mention the fact that the best game is the best game, no matter if it features Pac-10 teams or Big Ten teams. I like Big Ten football, but give me USC - UCLA over Penn State - Indiana any day of the week!
