And speaking of whining... anybody hear Reich whining at SEC Media Days? Little girl first apologized, then tried to defend his decision concerning the celebration last year; using as his lame pathetic excuse, "Those mean ol' Gators have been picking on us too long... I had to do something.". How about winning or losing with a little dignity, class, and sportsmanship, coach... that's something.
I enjoy your comments and participation but would suggest you do a little research before you make bold comments. For the record Richt pulled the starters very early in the game. The pass at the goal line was as much mercy as any attempt to score it was a low percentage pass by the SECOND string QB to a walk-on WR. Several times he could have kicked field goals and didn't (the kicker was almost automatic from 50 yards.

Richt pulls the starters early in blow outs which is one reason for the lofty rating this year - TONS of experienced players. It is also a major reason he keeps signing the best of the best - they know they will play.

The celebration is old old old story - but if you care to read the truth I'm sure it is available on line. He told the team to celebrate not charge the field as a team. He has also apologized profusely. Did you happen to see the way he jerked the players around when they started celebrating after the Vandy game?

Again I enjoy banter but mis-truths hit one of my hot buttons. I will more than happy to provide you the link for the entire Sugar Bowl replay - you can see the massive substitutions first hand. Carry on!

And, while I also appreciate your comments, frankly, there's nothing wrong with my research, nor my opinion. In the 4th quarter of the game, with UGA already leading 38-3, Stafford (not some backup) threw 3 straight passes to Massaquoi (one for 8 yards, one for 5 yards, and one incomplete), with a scramble by Stafford after the second one. Coutu then kicked the field goal to make it 41-3. That's exactly what I said in my previous post; and it's the truth. Cox would then play the remainder of the 4th quarter. That's just a fact I pointed out; and I'll be happy to provide you with the link of the play-by-play to prove it. IMHO, that hardly qualifies as pulling your starters out "early". Perhaps it's not my research that's lacking.

As for the Richt thing, I'm well aware of all he said. And what it amounts to is a bunch of back-peddling after first saying nothing when it happened, then thinking about it some more and issuing an apology, followed by trying to minimize his own culpability in the whole affair when questioned about it at SEC Media Days... actually suggesting that UF fans were just sore because of the loss. I can assure you that no Gator fans are only upset with the loss... those happen all the time. We're upset at the disrespect; and a little taken aback that Richt (who most Gator fans have normally had great respect for, btw) and his team couldn't manage to act like they'd been in the endzone before.

I'm also quite familiar with the Vandy incident. Pretty disgusting to dance on the star after barely beating the worst team in the conference; but I can understand it a little, since they embarrassed UGA the previous year by beating them between the hedges for your homecoming game. Lucky it wasn't two in a row. But, I will tell you this: On other message boards, when folks were bashing UGA fans about the Vandy stunt, there were several Gator fans who entered the fray to stick up for Richt, and point out that he actually snatched players in a knot, and got them off the field after the display. Then, in the very next game, this happens with UF. I think a lot of UF fans felt like Richt was losing control of his players. Then they found out that not only didn't he control them, the plan was his to begin with. Many of us felt like the sick F$U and ThugU mentality was finally rearing its ugly head. In any event, a great deal of respect was lost that day; and you can be sure the Gators will be looking to exact some revenge for the slight.

I'm not looking to start any trouble, but I simply won't comment without doing my homework first. If this is one of those sites where you can't say something that's fact, because the truth might hurt somebody's little feelings, I'll certainly be cognizant of that in the future.

No feelings hurt here and the last thing I want to do is imply opinions are not welcome - quit the contrary.

My point was very simple Richt doesn't run up the score and Urban does.
Unless you follow UGA football I doubt you realize the number of players Richt played early in the Sugar Bowl.

Bottom line Hawaii was a joke and didn't belong in the game - I don't care if they were undefeated and scored 10,000 points a game.

I won't even comment on the thug bait.

Well, if you recognize that that was the case for UGA vs. Hawaii, then surely you'd say the same will be true for UF vs. Hawaii. The Rainbows won't even have Brennan, who was their only chance against UGA, and they'll be visiting the Swamp. After June Jones lame comments regarding Tebow last year, in his drive to the Heisman; I'd have bailed out on my team before we had to face UF and Tebow at home, too.

For the record, UF's offense should be unstoppable again this year. They ranked 3rd nationally in total offense, at 42.5 ppg, against some of the toughest defenses in the nation. And, that was without a regular RB, and far fewer weapons than they'll have this year. The game vs. Hawaii is going to be UGLY. Even if you don't believe Meyer, who said the secondary is the most improved group on the field, you can't think a Hawaii team without Brennan is going to be able to keep the score close. UF's secondary was admittedly poor last year, but they had the best rushing defense in the SEC. Moreno had a pretty good game, but just about everyone else was shut down.

I can't believe we're even having this discussion.

Coach Urban Meyer doesn't run up the score on purpose. It happens because we are so good. Besides if your team is so bad they let it happen they deserve it.

Yep. good enough to loose to UGA, Auburn, and Michigan who if my memory serves me right, lost to Apalaichan State. And if I also remember right the star QB had the ball in his hands in the michigan bowl game and couldn't get the job done. The loss to UGA wasn't really Tebow's fault. It's just so hard to throw the ball when you're lying on the ground.

Hey, That was our inexperienced defense that cost us those games. you can score every possesion but if your defense lets the other team score every time it doesn't really matter how good your offense is

And how many points did the vaunted Gator offense score against UGA?

This is about the way it'll be, too. It is silly to comment on it anymore, really. hawaii has even lost their QB they had last year. I doubt they are going to burn the field up with a rookie QB.

Appalacian State vs. Michigan. Louisana Monroe vs. Alabama. Nothing is impossible.

Yeah, I know. I personally think that Hawaii doesn't have much of a shot either. All I'm saying is, you never know...
