Re: The Coaching Carousel

If Pelini jumps to Neb I can see Miles going after GT's defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta. Can you imagine what he could do with the talent LSU has?

I wonder if Auburn can hold on to Will Muschamp? Great defensive guy and a heck of a recruiter.

Re: The Coaching Carousel

Tenuta was allegedly part of the package when Miles was going to Michigan. He's interviewing for the Yellow Jacket's head coaching job, but assuming he doesn't get it, yeah, I can see him coaching for Miles down at LSU.

Re: The Coaching Carousel

Wow, I am stunned. He really built that team up. Had four MAC West titles, went to two bowl games, the only non-BCS conference school to post seven straight winning seasons from 2000-06. It'll be interesting to see if Novak's successor can take this team to the next level.

Re: The Coaching Carousel

So I just heard some new rumors about the future coach at Arkansas. Right now, the word is that it is a Bowden who's name begins with a T. Problem is, there are two of those, Terry & Tommy. Tommy coaches Clemson and Terry has not coached in a few years but recently said he wants to get back in this year and has already taken interviews with some teams. So this could be very interesting.

Other names linked to this position are South Florida Coach Jim Leavitt, Auburn Coach Tommy Tubberville, UNC Coach Butch Davis, Oakland Raiders Coach Lane Kiffen, and finally Atlanta Falcons coach Bobby Petrino.

Re: The Coaching Carousel

Tuberville's name is the one I keep hearing. Kiffin too, come to think of it. I doubt Leavitt will leave USF the way that the program is on the rise. Didn't Davis just sign a contract extension at UNC? Not that that seems to be stopping coaches these days.

Joe Schad just reported on ESPN Radio that Arkansas has interviewed 3 coaches:

1. Mich D cord : Ron English
2. Former ARK OC/ Current TUlsa OC: Gus Malzon
3. Clemson HC Tommy Bowden.

Man, you've must have never went to a Clemson game. They are never satisfied with the outcome and never satisfied with the outcome of the season. They feel as if they are in the upper echelon of teams with traditions like Michigan, USC, Notre Dame, and others. (man that sounds like the Arkansas fans I have talked with).

Re: The Coaching Carousel

Yeah both teams seem to think they are supposed to go at least 10 - 2 every year

I'd hate to see Bowden leave because I am friends with Cullen Harper's dad and I think Cullen may come out on the short end of a coach change with Willie Korn sitting on the bench.

Check this link for the latest coaching rumors. I think GT will end up with Hatcher.

ESPN.com is reporting that Jeff Long, the AD for Arkansas, has settled in on Tommy Bowden as the next coach of Arkansas. The contract would be in excess of $2 million. He was just given an extension of $400,000 that put his salary at $1.6 million. The report said that they met in South Carolina on Monday. It also said that Terry Don Phillips, AD for Clemson, was in New York on Monday and would be flying back to persuade Bowden to stay on Tuesday.

This is a very interesting hire to me seeing that both have a very delusional fan base. It's not really a step up for him.

ESPN - Arkansas may offer Bowden $2 million annually to replace Nutt - College Football

Re: The Coaching Carousel

The lure of the SEC is the only reason I can see (or he is sick of the Clemson fans wanting more) and that may be a huge mistake given the coaching talent in the SEC.

He could also be trying to get better deal at Clemson.

Re: The Coaching Carousel

From what I am seeing on Arkansas's Scout.com board, it looks like the Bowden deal is going to go down. We might know something as early as today. The thing is, some of the Board of Trustees members feel as though this is a lateral move. This is going to be interesting. If Bowden leaves Clemson, another good program will be searching for a coach. I don't remember having this many good jobs open in a while.
