thank you Q

i also dont think it would really effect the bowl games for most teams .... those that dont make playoffs would still go to the lesser bowls

and i think it would really help the big bowls ......... let's try this (please note it is an example .. just to make a point) ........... lets say Kentucky and Oregon end up 5-6 in the final polls .. and they are to meet in the Sugar Bowl .. would i watch, maybe and maybe not ...... but i can tell you i would be MUCH more likely to watch if i knew the winner went on towards the National Championship and the loser went home ........ in a game like that i bet it would draw thousands of extra viewers if the winner went on

(yeah yeah .. i have no idea if Oregon and Kentucky can meet in the Sugar Bowl .. it was an example)

hope my point makes sense

As much as I hate to admit it...I think they can compete - I'm just not sure if they can weekend in and out.

FWIW, I think that UF could have 4 losses this year - our attack isn't as balanced as it looks (when its on). Give Auburn their due, they have a good defense, just no offense to help it out. Matter of fact, my wife and I have season tickets...she's a 96 grad. I actually met her at the 94 UF/AU game - Stan Nix to Fred Sanders...ugh. It was 1 v. 2 that year.

USF has arrived but I'm not convinced that the conference top to bottom is that good. The SEC has 3 top 10 teams and 7 in the top 25 Its imploding the conference but is fun to watch. BC is good about every 8-10 years. Think Ryan is for real. I'm hoping that every team loses 1 this year so there is a stronger consensus for 8team playoff.

Re: First BCS Rankings of 2007

I also think we should make bowl games a reward rather than an extension of the season. If you are 7-5, do we really think these teams should be rewarded??

I'm in favor of eliminating 6 or so. The bowl in Shreveport? Wow - I remember when it was the Poulan weedeater bowl (no kidding).

(then again, I'm in favor of shortening the MLB schedule to around 124 games as well - if Boston isn't in it, I won't watch)

The NCAA got what it deserved, they put in an awful system and now they may get South Florida-Ohio State for the title. A tournament It would probably be LSU-Oklahoma. Congrats Collage Football.

All USF has to do is win out and they get a National Title birth. Correct?

Re: First BCS Rankings of 2007

Leave college football just like it is. No playoffs. There would be no drama if there were playoffs. None. This gives schools like Kansas and South Florida huge highs, at least until they taste defeat. As for the SEC, don't cry that you are in such a tough conference while you are splitting the megabucks you are hauling in and getting every blue-chip recruit you go after because of where you play. It comes with the territory.

No crying here - I'd rather be a part of the best conference in the country.
FWIW, I'm also a UVA grad - I'm pushing for my daughter to go Virginia over any school in the SEC except Vandy.

Re: First BCS Rankings of 2007

Simple I like your hypothetical Kentucky – Oregon bowl match up and agree it would be a drag unless the winner advanced (Kentucky would win in a walk as they come from the SEC ). I hate to agree with my arch enemy 97gbtr (he is a Gator) but we need to eliminate a bunch of bowl games 7 – 5 teams deserve nothing but more practice in the spring.

Auburn should be higher in the BCS - not many teams have a defense as good.

Re: First BCS Rankings of 2007

My prediction is a resounding UF win (*gulp*). There is no way UK can maintain the type of intensity they had last weekend, 2 weekends in a row. For pete's sake, they have 1, count them, 1 single receiver - of course we have (0) defensive backs older than 18. I almost have underwear older than them.

I vote out Oregon b/c anyone with diamond plate uniforms..well...sux. JRL>>have you seen those uniforms? Wow - u.g.l.y. but they've got the 'Quack Attack' goin' for 'em.

How do you figure? The NCAA basketball tournament is a prime example.... How many Cindereall upsets happen durin the tournament? Enough to make it exciting, plus the little teams show they have the nerve to take on and take down the big boys.... which in turn helps their programs.
