BCS Needs Explaining

...yet another article on the BCS. At this point I wouldn't mind seeing it go just so I don't have to hear "BCS" ever again...

Re: BCS Needs Explaining

We need a year with like 5 teams with only one loss and no undefeated's. Two of them have to be in the same conference and Notre Dame needs two losses but a high ranking at seasons end. This will result in not only three teams on equal footing with the two in the national title game being arbitrarily snubbed, but also a one loss team from a power conference not qualifying for the BCS. But, I am sure the usual figureheads will have some convuluded way of justifying there decisions.
Essentially The BCS is like prohibition, we need organized crime to corrupt the system for cooler heads to subsequently prevail.

Re: BCS Needs Explaining

That would be funny for sure, but like you said they will have a reason for it. This is probably because they have thought of all of these scenarios before they even implemented the system...

Re: BCS Needs Explaining

I'm sure a lot of people agree, Kasey fan. Of course, they'd need to use fewer teams, but a March Madness style playoff in college football sure would be nice!

How would the teams be picked? The conference winners of all the major conferences? How would they be seeded? I'm in favor of a playoff system, but, we also have to remember that these guys are students first, athletes second. I also don't think that there bodies can handle a NFL-type of schedule and having a playoff system somewhat like basketball would bring something like that around.

Whoever could successfully explain the BCS would immediately be put to work solving the crisis in the Middle East.

Re: BCS Needs Explaining

do you guys think if they went to a playoff system instead of a BCS system that the main bowls would be angry and in return theyd lose alot of revenue that would of been brought in under the current system,

i dunno the rose bowl doesnt have the same ring to it as a game in the first round compared to the rose bowl thats isnt the bcs championship game

im all for changing the setup but i think the prob is keeping the history behind the bowls like, rose, orange, fiesta, and sugar bowl. I mean if WVU won the sugar bowl last year as an opening rd i wouldnt be as excited for this upcoming season as i am

Re: BCS Needs Explaining

Why do they use the computers in my opinion the Refs are more reliable have all the refs or coaches crush out the top teams

The only problem I have with the BCS is that the Rose Bowl is part of the rotation. I'm old school when it comes to that. Having grown-up with it being the Big-10 champ versus the PAC-10 champ. I liked having that prestigue with being affiliated with the oldest bowl game.
