More BCS Talk... Here is yet another article concerning the BCS. Is the madness ever going to end? It talks about increasing the number of teams eligible for at-large teams... http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?s...v=ap&type=lgns

Re: More BCS Talk... Great analogy, Lefty. The cornerstone of the argument for defenders of The BCS are the years when there are only two undefeated teams (OSU-Miami, Texas-USC, etc). And they feed you the line, very defiantly, I might add, "The BCS got it right this year". Well, of course the BCS got it right! The only way the BCS could be worse is if they mishandled the self-explanatory years. I think we are going every other year when we have a definitive national champion. Last I checked, 50% was a failing grade in any college course. And naturally Texas-USC should have played in The Rose Bowl last year, neither team lost a game and they were the only two to do so. Never the less, is someone really going to argue that it was just a fluke the Big 12 and the Pac 10 also happened to be the two weakerst power conferences throughout the 2005 season (Minus The Big East)? We need a playoff. Urgently.

enough with the bcs. when are people going to learn it is the root of all sport evils. number 6 missouri is pushed out because they lost two games to oklahoma. illinois comes in with a 9-3 record because they played one game against ohio state and won. lsu is in the national championship with two losses and several close wins including arkansas who got beat bad by missouri. usc gets a garuntee with one of the easiest n the nation, played only three teams with winning records all year, is favored by 41 points against stanford and gets upset which happened to be one of the biggest point upsets ever in college football history. stanford then gets beat by notre dame who could barely move the football all year. lets be real here. bcs talks strength of schedule, points scored, etc. but if that is true, lsu wouldnt be playing in the national championship, usc push of a schedule would be looked at at a joke which it is, and who is illinois.

Re: More BCS Talk... Ok... I have not been watching college ball for long but I think all these people saying they should be #1 are not paying attention. The way it was explained to me is if you play a RANKED team depending on how you did you move up or down. If you don't play a RANKED team you standing can still change depending on how other teams who played RANKED teams did. So Utah is saying they should be #1.... Here was there schedule for the year!!! Michigan Wolverines - Not Ranked UNLV Rebels - Not Ranked Utah State Aggies - Not Ranked Weber State Wild Cats - Not Ranked Oregon State Beavers - Not Ranked Wyoming Cowboys - Not Ranked Colorado State Rams - Not Ranked New Mexico Lobos - Not Ranked TCU Horned Frogs - Ranked San Diego State Aztecs - Not Ranked Brigham Young - Ranked How do you expect to be #1 when you only play 2 ranked teams during the season. Okalhoma Sooners Schedule... Chattanooga Mocs - Not Ranked Cincinnati Bearcats - Ranked Washington Huskies - Not Ranked TCU Horned Frogs - Ranked Baylor Bears - Not Ranked Texas Longhorns - Ranked Kansas Jayhawks - Not Ranked Kansas State Wildcats - Not Ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers - Not Ranked Texas A&M Aggies - Not Ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders - Ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys - Ranked Missouri Tigers - Ranked On top of that the difference it the score between the two are huge.... Utah only had 2 games where they got more that 50 points Oklahoma had 9 games where they scored above 50 and 5 of those were above 60.....

The rankings are a joke! Obviously Utah was a lot better than the polls gave them credit for by the way the destroyed Alabama in the Sugar Bowl. Meanwhile, once Oklahoma played a real defense that also has an offense, they lose 24-14 on a neutral field. In reality, USC would beat any of them and they were left out of the BCS Fraud once again! PS, take a look at the final ranking and Oregon State likely is on there which gives Utah 4 wins against teams that finished ranked and zero losses! |

Re: More BCS Talk... The system definitely needs to be changed. That was the most uneventful championship game I have watched in a long time. It didn't even come close to living up to it's billing. I am a Penn State grad and will be the first to admit that USC got screwed. At the very least they should have the "plus one or and one" or whatever the proposed name of the game was... Play your BCS games earlier and take 2 deserving teams from those games and put them in the championship game. This system would still leave some schools outside looking in (would have been Utah this year), but anything is better than the politically motivated crap they put us through every year.
