SEC Football Predictions I was just checking an SEC preview from Rivals.com's Bob McClellan. The article is located at http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?s...vals&type=lgns and contains a lot of interesting predictions. Among the noteworthy stuff: He has Florida winning the SEC East, followed by Georgia and Tennessee. In the SEC West, he picks LSU, with Auburn second and Alabama in third. McClellan's five impact players to watch: 1. Mohamed Massaquoi, So., WR, Georgia 2. Jarvis Moss, Jr., DE, Florida 3. Robert Ayers, So., DE, Tennessee 4. Jeff Owens, So., DT, Georgia 5. Robert Lane, Sr., TE, Ole Miss His top five incoming freshmen and transfers: 1. Matthew Stafford, Fr., QB, Georgia 2. Brent Schaeffer, Jr., QB, Ole Miss 3. Andre Smith, Fr., OL, Alabama 4. Percy Harvin, Fr., WR, Florida 5. Greg Smith, So., DT, Auburn Best of the SEC by position: QB: Chris Leak, Florida RB: Kenny Irons, Auburn WR: Sidney Rice, South Carolina OL: Arron Sears, Tennessee TE: Martrez Milner, Georgia DL: Quentin Moses, Georgia LB: Patrick Willis, Ole Miss DB: LaRon Landry, LSU K: Brandon Coutu, Georgia P: Kody Bliss, Auburn I know that's a lot of info to digest all at once, but what do you guys think of the way the author has broken down the SEC? What's he gotten right, and what's he gotten wrong?

Re: SEC Football Predictions I like pretty much everything that he touched on as far as the top players are concerned, but I do not agree with his team predictions. I dont think Florida is going to win the East. I am not sure who I would pick, but I think Florida will get knocked off a couple of times. I like the way he has the West shaping up though.

Re: SEC Football Predictions I think Auburn will end up winning the west, but that will be a classic between them and LSU. Florida... yeah, why not? One would assume Georgia and Tennessee will both endure rebuilding years. South Carolina could come out of nowhere and pull a Northwestern circa 1995. In fact, the stars are aligning for everyone to overreact and start labeling Spurrier as the "greatest coach of all time" or something else completely unquantifiable. Vanderbilt and Kentucky i do not foresee making the leap.

Re: SEC Football Predictions Being all the way in the other corner of the country I guess I can give a good uneducated outsiders perspective. I think Florida will take the East. Urban Meyer will have a year under his belt at Florida and will be starting to get some of his recruits on the field. Georgia and Tennessee will be in the mix as well and it might come down to some sort of crazy tiebreaker scenario but I think Meyer will lead Florida to the top. In the West I have no arguments with Auburn, LSU, and Alabama. Bama lost too many horses from last years team to threaten for the top spot and Auburn and LSU are both pretty stacked.

Re: SEC Football Predictions I am not high on Florida either. But if not them, who? If they lose to someone they should beat, it won't be Georgia, that elimiates 1/3 of the teams in their own division that could beat them. Tennessee is just so dire right now I can't pick them to beat Florida, not if they couldn't beat them last year at home. And I am giving South Carolina like a 15% chance of beating The Gators if not in Gainesville. If you recall Urban Meyer's second year at BG and Utah he has lost a total of one game. Really I do not see why that pattern would change with the loaded talent he has.

Re: SEC Football Predictions Well I still think Florida is a top ten team, but never the less I am giving them their typically competitive division by default. It is amazing how high the standards are in The SEC. And you are right, Lefty, that title game will probably go the way of the west.

Re: SEC Football Predictions I tell ya.......no matter what happens this year its gonna be another great year of SEC football. Now if I predict with my heart, the dawgs are gonna pound there way to the top, and I hope my heart is right. BUT, if I predict with my brains, its probably gonna end up the year of the gator this year. And as bad as I HATE to say this, Leake will come out of his shell this year and take more chances and actually become the QB he was sopposed to be. Top four- UF-UGA-LSU-AUB. Top two - FL - AUB. SEC champ FLA
