The Souteast's Ten Most Wanted

The Southeast's Ten Most Wanted
T.J. Bryant is one of the most wanted

As the camping season continues, more and more top prospects are coming off the board as Southeast 150 members make a commitment to schools all across the country. As a result, sometimes it is tough to keep track of who is left on the board. Here are the top ten prospects still available in the Southeast and a couple names to keep in mind as new offers go out.

10. Aldarius Johnson - Miami, Fla. - WR 4 stars
Though Johnson is not the first name in line for the list, it should actually be Marcus Robinson, Johnson made the list for going from an untouchable recruit to one of the country's finest prospects in the course of just a few weeks last month. With a top five of Florida, Miami, Florida State, LSU and USC and with some of the best highlight films in the country. The Canes have a strong pull with two commitments from Northwestern on the team, but LSU has to be happy with their chances if Johnson waits until after his official visits to make a commitment.

9. Etienne Sabino - Miami, Fla. - MLB 4 stars
Sabino went from a name on recruiting boards to one of the top prospects in the country shortly after sending out his junior film. In the span of two weeks, the 6-foot-3, 228-pound Sabino ran a 4.65 forty at the Scout.com combine in Miami, and then added scholarship offers from Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC, and Tennessee. Of the teams on that list, one schools continually jumps out to Sabino as Butch Davis and the Tar Heels could have the inside edge on this player.

8. Tyler Love - Mountain Brook, Ala. - OT 4 stars
Looking more and more like a Red River shootout between Texas and Oklahoma, it just shows how important he is nationally as neither school leaves the states of Oklahoma and Texas very often given the talent in that area. Though the Horns have yet to offer, it still signals how much pull they could have with Love. The question for him will be where he ends up taking his official visit as Love has not been on of the more active recruits in taking unofficial visits this year. Still, Nick Saban and Alabama have to be considered the front-runners for this in-state prospect.

7. Ramon Buchanan - Melbourne, Fla. - WLB 4 stars
His coach at Palm Bay also coached first-round draft pick Reggie Nelson, but calls Buchanan the better prospect. Watching film, it is easy to see the speed and power that can make Buchanan one of the hottest prospects left on the board. Earned a scholarship from Florida as a sophomore and grew up a 'Canes while growing up, "Cookie" as he is known around Palm Bay, could make an early decision between the two schools. Still, like Nelson, could be playing in the Swamp on Saturdays.

6. Brice Butler - Norcross, Ga. - WR 5 stars
While other receivers in the country can be described as explosive, Butler is as smooth a wide receiver as one will find in this year's class. One of the better route-runners in the country, he gets great separation and has a high football I.Q. for the game. Butler recently narrowed his list to ten schools, including Florida State, Notre Dame, USC, Arizona State, Penn State, Georgia, Oregon, Oregon State, Florida and LSU. Watch out for the Noles in this one after picking up five-star quarterback E.J. Manuel yesterday.

5. DeAndre Brown - Ocean Springs, Ms. - WR 5 stars
Coming in at 6-6, 220 pounds, and running a 4.52 forty with soft hands makes Browna no-brainer after Calvin Johnson's solid career at Georgia Tech. With as much potential as anybody in the Southeast, Brown quickly earned scholarships from schools across the country and has yet to narrow his list. Currently, he lists his favorites as LSU, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, Miami and South Carolina and has done a great job of keeping a good poker face with any school leading.

4. Matt Patchan - Seffner, Fla. - OT 5 stars
Patchan continues to push for the top overall spot in the state of Florida with his consistent play at new school Armwood this spring shortly after posting a 4.7 forty at the Scout.com Miami combine. With that athletic ability, some schools are looking at him playing defensive end in college. Patchan narrowed his list down to a more manageable eight programs, including LSU, Miami, Florida State, Florida, Georgia, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Notre Dame. Watch out for LSU in this one.

3. Marcus Forston - Miami, Fla. - DT
He may not play like a beast on every play, but watching this 6-foot-3, 300-pounder run a 4.90 forty and then watching the light come on as he takes on a double-team during a game, there is no question why everybody is all over Forston. One of two most-wanted players from Northwestern this year, he is keeping in touch with Notre Dame, Florida, USC, LSU, North Carolina, Miami, and Rutgers. Forston could easily join several teammates signing with Miami this year.

2. T.J. Bryant - Tallahassee, Fla. - CB 5 stars
Big, physical defensive back who is not called on to play much bump coverage in high school is getting plenty of contact with college campuses with the way he is travelling these days. Has visited Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Florida State within the past two weeks and hopes to visit Miami, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma this summer. USC and LSU are making a big push, but Florida State is still the odds on favorite for anybody from Lincoln.

1. Julio Jones - Foley, Al. - WR 5 stars
The top prospect in the Southeast is without a doubt the most-wanted player in the region as he has been since a dominating performance at the Hoover Southeastern Select 7on7 passing tournament, which Foley is expected to be a favorite again this year. Though last year it was a one-man team, Jones hopes to enter with some new weapons around him. With offers from nearly every team in the country and having not yet narrowed his list, everyone is still in play. Early prediction: Tide could very well roll away with this one.

Others on the rise:
Jamie Harper - Jacksonville, Fla. - RB 4 stars
Perhaps the hottest recruiting battle is ongoing with Harper between four schools, Florida, Florida State, Clemson, and South Carolina. At 6-0, 205-pounds and running a 4.35 forty with some of the best film in the country, several schools have targeted Harper as their top running back prospect in the country and the pressure on this back from Trinity Christian is overwhelming at times. Still, Florida State and Clemson could hold the early edge even in spite of him never visiting the Tigers.

Joe Adams - North Little Rock, Ark. - WR 4 stars
One of the widest ranging offer lists in the Southeast, Adams holds offers from coast to coast including Georgia and USC, but homestate Arkansas is right there in the mix for this dangerous athlete. The question to be asked is where will he play, but for Adams that could easily mean the his college and his position as he could easily play receiver and running back in college. He had an excellent visit to USC and that could have a big effect on his decision.

Charles Whitlock - Chester, S.C. - CB 4 stars
One of the scariest players in the Southeast with the ball in his hands, could play quarterback, running back, receiver, and cornerback at the next level. He has at least one school recruiting him at each position and more than enough film to back up the offers from schools like Florida, Oklahoma, and Ohio State. As he attends more camps, his offer list could continue to rise.

Who is your most wanted recruit left on the board? Talk about it on the Scout.com National Recruiting Forum.

Re: The Souteast's Ten Most Wanted

the Gators are heavily recruiting Jamie Harper, seeing as how they really need an effective running back - last I heard, UF was tops on his list....
