Yep I call it the "Hot Dog Rule"

NCAA is trying to control some of the knuckleheads before somebody breaks their neck.

Because you the fans haven't put enough pressure on the AD and University of Tennesee President to remove him.

The answer is yes. anytime a college football player transfers his eligibility to another school NCAA rules require they sit out a year.

Re: Ask The Experts ... College Football

My son had a season-ending injury his first week of practice this year as a freshman--he'd already been added to the team's roster and given a number but hadn't played in a game. Is there an advantage to getting a 'medical' redshirt?

Yes. Getting a medical redshirt will give him an extra year of eligibility and another year to learn the teams system.

Re: Ask The Experts ... College Football

Is it also in a coach's best interest to ask for a medical redshirt for a player?

Yes. By getting a medical redshirt the coach has an open spot for an extra recruit to recieve a scholorship.

Re: Ask The Experts ... College Football

If a kid fulfills his nli his freshman year and transfers to another college how many years can he play? If he sits out a year does he lose a year of eligibility?the reason is he changed his major and the first school doesnt offer the degree. Not a fb problem.

NCAA rules allow four years of actual playing time. If he has been red shirted he still has four years. If he transfers to another university he has to sit out a year but does not lose a year of elgibility.

Re: Ask The Experts ... College Football

Is it better to transfer mid-year or finish the year at the school he signed with? He signed a NLI.

He needs to talk with someone in the NCAA compliance department at his present school for the fine print details on that, or directly to the NCAA.

Re: Ask The Experts ... College Football

Hey, My name is Donnie Pfeifer. I am a 6'5", 275 lbs incoming freshman at Brigham Young University. I played football in high school but never took it seriously. I am trying to get in shape for the winter walk ons. I am not particularly strong because I have never devoted the time to working out. Is it too late to start lifting and getting in shape now? What can I be doing now to better prepare me for the walk ons? I also am LDS so i will be out of college for 2 years with limited ability to work out. Any suggestions on how best to stay/continue to get in shape for football season? Again I have no particularly excellent abilities but I definitely have the size, drive, and build to play tight end in college. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Any programs, meal plans, etc? Thank you for your time.

My only advice would be to talk with the coaches and express your interest in participating in the football program.

You will be facing an up-hill battle though. There are young men from all over who have shown dediccation to working out, learning techniques and staying focused on footballl.

Good luck and I wish you well.

Tuck
