Corporate greed vs. a college football tradition.

Chick-fil-A increased its sponsorship and wants to kill the Peach Bowl name. It's not enough to increase the team payouts, they want it to be called the Chick-fil-A Bowl. This is title sponsorship gone too far.

- The Peach Bowl is an Atlanta sports tradition for the past 37 years and has a great reputation.

- All of the BCS Bowls have their traditional name as well as a title sponsor.

- It will be nicknamed the Chicken Bowl which is demeaning.

- What will it be called if Chick-fil-A decides someday not to sponsor?

It really is a shame that it is all about money. Sometimes it seems like the game is just a necessity so that people can put cash in their pockets. Unfortunately I do not see this changing anytime soon, if ever.

I hate the corporate names attatched to the Bowl games as well as to many stadiums around the country. The game is driven by money and the highest bidder usually gets their way. I prefer to see the Peach Bowl name be retained because the way things are now I sometimes get confused as to what game is where anymore.

I agree. Corporate sponsorship is out of hand. The Bowl Games have corporate names. In the pros, the stadiums have corporate names. The pregame shows have corporate names. The postgame shows have corporate names. Its borderline obscene!

Corporate sponsorship is out of hand but that battle has already been fought and lost. The majority of us work for a corporation in one capacity or another, so it will be difficult to eventually win. The Best plan is to mock the goofy, lazy names they concoct and simply appreciate the fooball. In any result, corporate overhaul of bowl games is just one step closer to a playoff. Something I can truly appreciate.
.... And "Atlanta sports tradition", isn't that an oxymoron?

I think it is ironic that the Chick -fil -A bowl is on Sunday - If anyone is from Atlanta (like I am) or live where there is a Chik-fil-A - then you know what I am talking about -they are never open on Sunday - and thats the only day you REALLY want it! But still - dont change the name chick -fil-a - assuage your dogmatic non-sabbath working policy - you'd make enough money to change the name of the Rose bowl - just from hungover college kids on Sunday afternoon! Still, I really wish they had them down here (so. fl. sucks... I can get plantains 24 hours a day, but good luck trying to find a good buscuit).

Yep. If you want people to know that you're a sponsor, put your name on posters around the stadium or on one of those giant T.V screens. Leave everything else out of it.

Your right the greed of money has tarnished the bowls they need to go back to the old names I am sick of it. Ex. Peach bowl sponsored by who ever has the most money bowl committees have no back bone it is a discrace to a long honored tradition of bowls

And they say a playoff will ruin the tradition of the bowl games....with all this corporate naming they are doing a good job at ruining those traditions.

I will always refer to it as the Peach Bowl, I've been to a couple of them & it will always be the Peach Bowl to me, no matter what they call it.
