Capital One Bowl Tickets

Capital One Bowl Tickets
Each and every year, there are many college football fans who would love to secure Capital One Bowl tickets, especially fans of the Big Ten and Southeastern Conference play. That's because the Capital One Bowl currently has an agreement with each of those conference that allows them to have the right of first selection for teams that are not Bowl Championship Series eligible. The game is held at the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium in Orlando, Florida on January 1 of each year, and it is widely considered to be the most prestigious of the non-BCS bowls. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or directly through the game's organizers and currently cost $75 when available to the general public. Quantities are obviously limited. However, the Capital One Bowl does have what is called a "Ticket Reserve" option available. Basically, what this does is guarantee that a participating team's fan will be able to secure passes, for a minimum extra cost of $10 that is. Still, its a small price to pay to make sure you get to see your favorite school play in the postseason, right?

The Evolution of Capital One Bowl Tickets
What we know today as Capital One Bowl tickets can trace their roots back to 1947. The game back then was known as the Tangerine Bowl and was held at Orlando Stadium, later renamed in honor of the game itself. The first edition of the Tangerine Bowl was a game between the football powers from Catawba and Maryville. Before a near sellout crowd of 9,000, Catawba went on to win the game, 31-0, and returned the following season to make it two straight Tangerine Bowl victories with a 7-0 defeat of Marshall. The game remained the Tangerine Bowl until 1982, when it became the Florida Citrus Bowl. Despite multiple changes in sponsorship, the game kept this moniker until 2003, when the game officially changed from the Capital One Florida Citrus Bowl to just the Capital One Bowl. In the first official Capital One Bowl, it was Tommy Tuberville's Auburn Tigers beating Joe Paterno's Penn State Nittany Lions by the score of 13-9.
