Rose Bowl Tickets

Rose Bowl Tickets
For most fans of the Big Ten and Pac-10 conferences, Rose Bowl tickets are the most sought after postseason game passes in all of college football. That's because since 1947, the game has had an exclusive affiliation with both conferences that grants the champions of each conference an automatic berth in the contest (as long as they are not set to play for the National Championship, a change that came with the dawning of the BCS era in the late 1990s). Originally called the "Tournament East-West Football Game" and played at Tournament Park, the game is now played at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Los Angeles, California. It has been dubbed "The Granddaddy of 'Em All" for a variety of reasons. It was the first national postseason collegiate football game. It has been a sellout every year since 1947, and the 1952 Rose Bowl was the first game ever broadcast on television across the entire country.

The Original Rose Bowl Tickets
Not many people can claim to have been lucky enough to have had Rose Bowl tickets to the inaugural edition of the match-up. That's because the very first Rose Bowl game was held back in 1942. Oddly enough, even though it contained no conference affiliation at the time, the game featured the Michigan Wolverines and the Stanford Cardinal. It was played on January 1, 1902, making it the first bowl game ever played on New Years Day. The Wolverines were coached by Fielding Yost, and even though Stanford had a winning record, they had little chance of keeping up with Yost's "Point-A-Minute" offense. Michigan won the game, 49-0, and FB Neil Snow was named the Most Valuable Player after scoring five touchdowns in the rout. With the football game not exactly providing the kind of drama Tournament of Roses directors wanted, the game was replaced by other sporting events until 1916, when the second Rose Bowl game was staged. The game has been played every year since then.
