1000 yard rushers

Currently, there are 11 1,000 yards rushers in Division I-A. They are...
Quote:

P.J. Hill Jr. Wis 10 245 1370 137.0 5.6 13
Ian Johnson BoSt 9 193 1317 146.3 6.8 20
Mike Hart Mich 10 259 1281 128.1 4.9 10

Ray Rice Rut 8 223 1203 150.4 5.4 13
Ahmad Bradshaw Mars 9 178 1126 125.1 6.3 11
Jon Cornish Kan 10 210 1120 112.0 5.3 5
James Davis Clem 10 171 1081 108.1 6.3 17
Darren McFadden Ark 9 167 1038 115.3 6.2 10
Branden Ore VT 9 195 1018 113.1 5.2 13
In addition, Cal's Marshaun Lynch and Ohio State's Antonio Pittman are currently less than 50 yards away.

Of these 13 backs, which one do you think is the best in college football?

Re: 1000 yard rushers

OK, here's the only vote for Marshawn Lynch. He will definately reach the 1000-yard mark against Arizona this weekend. I hate to say that he is out of the running for the Heisman Trophy this year because he isn't putting up the numbers that he should have. A dismal showing against Tennessee in the first game kinda did him in in that regard. If he does well against the Wildcats and the Trojans, come time for the Stanford game, he might end up with 1500 yards rushing for the season.

Chuck, is this question for just pure RB's or for possibly all-around backs? In order to be good in the NFL anymore, a RB needs to be a good receiver as well as a good rusher. I'm reminded of a RB for the 49ers that one year had both 1000 yards rushing and receiving. If a RB is a good all around back, I would call him the best.

Re: 1000 yard rushers

Definitely, an all-around threat is essential for the pro game; I was more or less looking towards the Doak Walker award. Not sure how much receiving numbers factor into that equation. Lots of good backs on this list, and it sure would be interesting to see which RBs are tops in total yards from scrimmage, but I'm not sure too many places keep track of that stat.
