There are currently eight winless teams in Division I-A college football. They are: Duke, Colorado, Eastern Michigan, San Diego State, Stanford, Florida International, Utah State and Temple. Which of these teams is the worst program in college football this season? How many of these teams have a chance at finishing the season without a single victory?

Duke and Temple are 1 and 1a in my book right now, and I doubt either earns a victory in 2006.

I'd say Duke and Florida International. With Duke, you wonder why they're a Div-1A team because everyone knows they'll never be able to contend.

I would like to submit a write in vote for Michigan State. They were favored to beat Ill by 26 and they come out and lose. I wouldn't want to be JLS right about now.

Yeah, that was a rough loss - makes me wonder what happened to the team that nearly took Notre Dame. Still, the Spartans are a far, far better team than anyone on this list. Duke is winless, hapless and hopeless. Temple isn't much better. Colorado lost to a D I-AA school, for crying out loud. At least MSU's put a couple of notches in the old win column.

Boy, all you easterners pick those other teams. Just watch ND vs. Stanford this weekend and you can see what has to be the worst team in college football this season!

Not necessarily. Their fan base is lousy, and they're not meeting D I-A attendence standards. That's the main reason there would be talk of demoting them. But for the record, yes, they do stink too. Actually, they reek something fierce.

There isn't any bias in your pick of Stanford with you being a Cal fan is there?

I didn't see the game, but I can tell by the final score that Stanford played them a lot closer than a lot of us expected. Temple lost to Kent State - how sad is that? What was the final score of the Duke - Alabama game, anyone know?

Duke led Alabama 14-10 at halftime. Bama then scored 20 unanswered points to win 30-14.

I'm from Durham NC where Duke is and they seem pretty hopeless but look what they have to work with. They dont attract the big name recruits like some of the other ACC schools. Besides it's all about basketball at Duke. Plus look at the caliber of most of the teams in the ACC. Just give'em a break because they do look like they're in the game but the just cant finish it off.

While I was pulling for Bama, I was thinking that programs like Duke don't get too many chances to beat a traditional powerhouse. Gotta make the most of those opportunities if you want to move forward.
