| Arizona Disgraced by Fans Here is a small sample of what Oregon players and staff had to put up with the entire game last night in Tucson. Note: an Oregon cheerleader was hospitalized after she was hit in the back of the head by a full water bottle. I'm extremely ☻☻☻☻ed that we have such lowlife fans as this. I know other schools also have problems like this. What do you think about this? YouTube - Oregon Ducks Booed at Arizona |

| Re: Arizona Disgraced by Fans People are not held accountable for their actions anymore. They think they can do what they want.To bad the person with the camera didn't catch the people who were throwing the bottles instead of filming where they were going. |

| Re: Arizona Disgraced by Fans Well it may come down to schools no longer selling bottles of water or soda at stadiums and selling only drinks in cups its pretty hard to throw a cup and hurt someone with it, I was at Alabama game in Tuscaloosa back in 2005 and Florida fans in the upper deck threw water bottles and hit a girl close to me in the face think she went to the hospital. The students did it in 2007 the Gerogia game at tuscaloosa throwing things a players in the frat sections the university banned that frats involved for a few games. Normally things like that dont happen in Tuscaloosa. You are right it is a classless thing to do.

The cups only thing works. When Birmingham had their race horse / dog track open, only cups were allowed unless you were in the clubhouse level. I was leaving a race( Charity function) from the clubhouse level and had a bottle in my hand. I might have made it 5 steps from the elevator,on the ground floor. before being stopped by 3 security guards and had to give them the bottles until we were out the doors.

| Re: Arizona Disgraced by Fans I have to say after watching the video that I have never seen water bottles thrown on the field after a game and especially thrown into a crowd of players or cheerleaders. As a 16 year season ticket holder to Duck games (1985-2001), I can only remember one incident where a guy actually threw a beer bottle on the field actually during the game where the refs stopped the game. The studium announcer told the crowd to stop throwing things on the field. It was over a bad call by the refs. The bottle didn't come close to hitting anybody but is just a bad thing really. Autzen Stadium hosts some of the drunkest fans in football but usually they behave. You wouldn't think a full water bottle would be that big of a deal. However, if it is thrown downward it would pick up a lot of speed...1lb water bottle would seem like a 20lb water bottle if it hits you in the head. I haven't heard the status of the cheerleader yet but hopefully she will be alright.

The Arizona fansite I moderate on has had quite a lengthy discussion about the fan behavior as well as the ZonaZoo student section that also threw stuff towards the field throughout the game. The area shown in that video is not the student section, we're not sure yet who they were but there is zero tolerance for that type of behavior in my opinion. Tucson police are requesting any video that will show the faces of anyone throwing the water bottles. I suspect there will be some major changes here in the near future. |

I can remember at least one other incident where a cheerleader was hurt by stuff thrown from the stands. Let me see if I can remember or find the link to remind who and when it was. |

| Re: Arizona Disgraced by Fans Here's a photo of the cheerleader that got hit with a flying bottle tossed by a classy Arizona fan after the Duck's overtime win (with 1000's of Zona fans ready to storm the field.) ![]() 11/22/09 2:50pm Oregon cheerleader Katelynn Johnson was diagnosed with a concussion and released from a Tucson area hospital early Sunday, after being struck with a half-empty water bottle thrown from the stands at Arizona Stadium following the Ducks’ win late Saturday. Johnson returned to Eugene with the rest of Oregon’s cheerleading squad this morning, UO officials said. Johnson is a senior sociology major who attended Thurston High School in Springfield. |
