Boise State Can't Find Major Opponent

Boise State athletic director Gene Bleymaier is all but begging for a major opponent – any major opponent – to play his Broncos, particularly in 2011. He can hardly get his calls returned. Not by the SEC. Not by the Big Ten. Not by anyone.
Bleymaier is making a nearly unheard of offer in college football scheduling – Boise will bring its popular, high-profile, top-10 team to any stadium in any town to play any big name team in America in 2011. And they don’t have to return the date in Idaho.
So far, no one has bit.
ESPN has even become involved trying to broker a deal that will almost assuredly be nationally televised. Still no luck.

How can anybody turn this offer down? Boise St will play any team on the road and you do not have to play at their stadium in return?

Well, I am sure glad that Oregon Ducks and OSU Beavers have helped out Boise St Broncos the last few years. Ducks don't play them for awhile but OSU Beavers start playing them again next year.

I can see why nobody wants to play Boise St Broncos because they are a quality football program and most all the BCS teams don't want to play tough teams in their non-league schedules. Now, 2011, is not much notice for most college teams who schedule way in advance. So, this may be part of their problem too in trying to fill this spot too.

Still, if your offering a free home game to a team, that is an unheard of offer in college football. I'm surprised no team can find room in the schedule. I think Boise State wants to play some good teams so they can prove that they are an elite team in the league. Joining the MWC could help them with that.

I agree with most of what u said but joining the Mountain West Conference that would not help, if the PAC 10 would expand to 12 now that would be more impressive. At least there are 2-4 top 25 teams in that conference every year and put Utah in there as well and that might make the PAC 10 better.

Re: Boise State Can't Find Major Opponent

For this reason, I am hoping that somehow Boise State makes it to the BCS Title game. Is it really their fault nobody will play them? The BCS is a fraud and schools like Boise State(once) and Utah(twice) have been victimized by it, they have had teams finish a perfect season with a BCS Bowl win and no hope at a national title.
