Why is that? I'm not a gator fan but I don't root against them. They have a good program and a great qb and coach with at least some moral fiber so why all the hate from people?

Hey pal, it is the same reason everybody across the country hates the USC Trojans of the PAC 10. I have many friends from the Big 12 who hate USC because they are very hard to beat and always in the top 5 to end the season. They have dominated the PAC 10 the last 6 years for good reason. They have the best recruiting class every year. I think USC could beat the Florida Gators on any given Saturday.

I don't like the Gators because they always play soft non-league schedules and play in the weakest side of the SEC. I don't like the fact they are getting all the media attention and sick of hearing about Tim Tebow. He is way overrated and will never make it in the NFL. Greatest College player or QB of all time. No way. Very good QB in this day and age...yes! I could name many other players but will not have the stats he does because Florida throws 50 times a game at times.

I can still remember a way overrated Ty Detmer from BYU who won the Heisman Trophy who the Ducks blew out of the stadium. Why did he win the Heisman? He threw 60 times a game and racked up all these meaningless stats against the horrible teams they scheduled every year.

Do you know why so many football fans hate Notre Dame? It took me years to figure it out but now understand. They get their own major football network. They don't want to play in a conference. They play typically weak teams if they can. I don't hate any team but know why so many despise Notre Dame now. Plus, they get an automatic BCS bid if they win 10 games. Unbelievable!

I hope this gives you some insight pal why I feel the way I do about the Gators but not just them. I really like Urban Meyer who was at Utah before he took the Gator job. He is a great coach and class guy. I just think it is the norm when you see a college dominate in both basketball and football. You tend to want to root against them. I guess this is the way I see it.

There is no other player in the NCAA that plays harder then Tim Tebow, He is a model citizen and an excellent role model and there is no reason to be a Tim Tebow hater other then jealousy...The kid has earned it...PERIOD!! Trust me USC or Florida would leave their respective conferences if they thought they could carry themselves nationally. .... Why doesn't Army or Navy have a conference? Why??? When are you people going to wake up to the fact this is simply not true. The Jeff Sagarin computer ratings, same one used by the BCS, has the Pac 10 rated as the strongest conference in the country...even ahead of the mighty SEC. Check for yourself...after the team rankings there is another list where the conferences are ranked.

Pal = Friend or Buddy. Offended by what? Believe me, out here in the Midwest, a lot of football fans I know do not like USC Trojans or hate them. Why? Success. Yes, the Trojans are very hard to beat as their record since Carroll took over is 88-15 (85.4%) since 2001. Most of those 15 losses were in PAC 10 play. I don't think USC has lost a non-league game in the last 7 years. Have to research this.

I fully realize that non-conference schedules are made out way in advance...usually 5 - 10 yrs. Granted FSU is down and the Gators weren't expecting this. Troy, Charleston Southern and Florida International were AA schools back years ago when they scheduled them. Hey, everybody claims their league schedule is tough. We, on the outside looking in, can only go by non-league schedule toughness and record. This is why we need to have a playoff system badly. This argument would mostly go away after that.

I probably didn't use the best choice of words but was referring to all the hype ESPN was stating he was "The Greatest College QB of all Time". This is what I was referring to and totally disagree. Tebow is a great kid, great QB today but is not the greatest QB of all time. McCoy and Bradford are pretty darn good too. Just my opinion.

Ok loco4pablo, You are certainly entitled to your opinion here but disagree with you on this one as well. Any of the teams you listed could easily be as successful with an independent TV contract. Around 10 -15 years ago there was a whole mess of teams that were independent including Penn St, Louisville, Notre Dame, etc. Most all of these teams joined a conference for a reason. Security, TV contracts, bowls, money, etc.

One of my friends joked awhile back that Notre Dame should join the PAC 10 since they play 4 Pac 10 teams this year. I will say this about ND though, at least they have some decent teams on their schedule every year which are mostly rivalry games. I cannot say this for a lot of top 10 teams such as Boise St who doesn't play anybody all year. I am curious if they will make it to number 1? I have made this complaint for years about many teams that have won National Championships or went to BCS bowls without really beating more than one top ranked team.

Thanks for your response loco4pablo and love to chat college football. I have been a proponent for college football playoffs for years. Until this happens, there is always going to be unhappy fans (including myself) who doesn't agree with how things turn out. Great topics here really. Anybody else have any input on these hot topics?

Thanks for the link to Jeff Sagarin rankings desertrat. I had not seen these rankings until now for the first time this year. I actually agree with them as well and will be interesting to see how everybody ranks when the BCS poll comes out next week.

PAC 10 is the strongest conference this year because of their toughness of non-league schedules and record against them. Yes, the BCS does use some of the Sagarin rankings in their overall polls. Thanks for your response.
