Miami is still in the top 20 because they belong there. Losing by 3 to FSU is a lot more respectable than beating Georgia Tech by 4 or beating UAB by 7. Just my opinion. My question would be just exactly what did Nebraska do to slip a spot? Was 49-10 too close even though the spread was 20? Was the 585 yards of offense not good enough? Was the 7 TDs scored by 7 different players unimpressive?(2 others were called back by penalty, could have been 9TDs by 9 different people). Louisiana Tech may not be the toughest opponent around, but they were 7-4 last year and usually win more than they lose. I guess if they win 63-0 this week they may drop out of the poll altogether.

Good question. I've got another - why the bleep did WVU fall a spot after an impressive win against an in-state rival?

Re: New AP Poll Week 2

I hate polls this early in the season. They don't mean squat this early, IMO. At least 3, maybe 4 games should be played before any type of poll is put out. All this does in handicap a team that starts with a lower ranking in the polls early. Lets, for arguments sake, say at the end of the year Nebraska goes undefeated along with Texas and West Virginia. Or even worse, one of the highly ranked teams now, like Notre Dame, only has one loss. What are the chances of Nebraska jumping above even a one loss Notre Dame when they stared the season ranked so low in the 1st poll?

OK, maybe I shouldn't use Notre Dame in my example since they are over rated no matter what anyway.

Well it was USC that jumped over West Virginia, and I have to admit that USC looked very impressive on the road against a good team. We have a lot of football left to be played so let's wait and see how things go. Nebraska gets a shot at both USC and Texas this year, if we win those 2 games, the poll voters will give the Huskers props.

Re: New AP Poll Week 2

Let's just see how things start turning out when everyone is playing conference games. The polls should be fairer then.
