| Commentary on Saturday's games The games on Saturday were very good during the day. First, you had Duke, who went to Maryland and beat the Terps 96-88. J.J. Redick, who arguably is the best player in the country, scored 35 and Sheldon Williams scored 26. Now, without a doubt these two are the best 1-2 punch in the nation. Villanova played a solid game today and beat DePaul 61-51, mainly because of there stifling defense and Randy Foye's 23. Every time I see Foye, I become more impressed with his game. In the game of the day, George Washington had to hang on and barely beat St. Joe's 64-62. I know there are people out there who like GW, but I am one who isn't impress with them. I mean the conference they play in stinks, and there non-conference schedule is one of the worst in the country. I want them to play teams like Duke, UConn and Villanova before I am impressed. Michigan State and UCLA both came up lame today. UCLA lost to a tough Washington Huskies team in Washington, but Michigan State had a bad lost against a below average Minnesota Golden Gophers team, 69-55, as 5 players for Minnesota were in double figures. Boston College, Iowa and Oklahoma all looked impressive, especially Iowa who went on the road and beat a so-so Hoosiers team, 70-67. Finally, another team that stunk on Saturday was Michigan, who even though some players are hurt, went to Purdue, a really bad Boilermakers team and got thumped, 84-70. Although, when Purdue shoots over 61 percent from the field, then many teams would have a tough time beating them, but then again Purdue is a bad basketball team. |
