The Big East is a Big Beast

This is an amazing conference. March madness is going to be loaded with big east teams. Pitt just beat a terrific West Virginia team and it was a great defensive battle. Those are my favorite two teams with a lean towards Pitt.

BBB,

Great game! I am a huge WVU fan so I made it down to the game. Both teams played great defense, and Pitt came out with a hard fought win.

The only reason I am not sold on Pitt being better than WVU is because of Wvu's shooting woes against the Panthers. Pittsnogle was 0-12, something that rarely happens, and will surely not be the case later this month at the Coliseum. But I give a lot of props to Gray for keeping him in check.

I cant wait for the Big East tourney!!

WVU,

Pitt and WVU are really something this year. I think that Pitt is a little more of a surprise but I would love to see these two teams in the sweet sixteen or better during March Madness. Pitt or WVU needs to knoch UConn down a peg. Pitt come a bit short the first game. Did WVU play Uconn yet?

WVU actually plays them next Saturday, Feb 18! I agree that someone needs to cool UConn down, they have been cruising since an early January loss to Marquette. Hopefully the Mounties can pull through on their home court.

What do you think about Syracuse? They are having a tough time right now, but I think they are still primed to win some games.

WVU,

I don't think that Syracuse has it this year. This might be a transition year for them. Pitt had very little problem with them. They might have had a down game but they seemed to be weak coming off the bench. I'm learning to appreciate depth in College hoops because of Pitt the past few years.

I think that their lack of depth could hurt them in the long run, but they do have some guys with a lot of big game experience like McNamara, Roberts, and Watkins.

If they can get things together, and start to gel late, I would hate to draw them in the big dance. But until then, they need to sure up that 4-5 conference record.

West Virginia just knocked off Georgetown in a great Big East match up. The game was close until the end when the Mountaineers pulled away to win 69-56. Pittsnogle made up for the bad game against Pitt to score 25.

WVU looks good right now, and could definitely make a run at the Final Four.

Big East

2006 is a great year for the Big East. With Uconn, Villanova, West Virginia, and Pitt all with realistic chances at the final four, it should make for an exciting tournament. When it's all over Uconn should be the champions with one of the best rosters in years.

Didn't WVU just get rolled by somebody? Seton Hall, was it?

Let me look it up... yep, there it is. 71-64 was the final score. Plus they've got UConn coming up Saturday. All I'm saying is that I'm not sure I'd be punching their ticket to the Final Four just yet, guys...

I am not so sure that anybody is punching their ticket to the final four. Nobody is a lock in the NCAA tournament, especially not the Mountaineers with the way they have been playing. But they are still 18-6 and one of the better teams in the country. If they can get their offense together they can make a run. Saying that they got rolled is overstating the obvious. Duke got beat by Georgetown and UCONN got beat by Nova. It does happen. Hopefully they can find their shooting touch this weekend.

WVU went down again tonight at the hands of Syracuse. If they do not start playing better, they are going to find themselves in the middle of the pack come selection Sunday.

On the other side of the spectrum, the Orange are making a case for themselves. If they can get another 2 or 3 wins they will have a strong shot at the Big Dance.
