I miss Cinderella in the Final Four

San Antonio, TX – Memo to CBS, I’ve found something more amazing that getting real Coke taste with zero calories as they won’t let us forgot that nothing is more amazing than that. You know what that is that? That the Final Four is all one seeds! That means on Saturday night when the last four teams in the NCAA Tournament lace them up, that it will be the four bests teams. It also means that the tournament committee got it right this year.

Others may differ in opinion here but I almost think, it takes away from the Final Four. Don’t get me wrong I think the games will be great, and that the best teams will be facing each other, other than the fact that they’re all one seeds are no big story lines, no Cinderella’s, none of those smaller schools or great stories, who you just have to root for. Just the big guns.

Now without any sweet little Cinderella schools to root for, and you don’t watch for the greatness of the game, the team for you just may be the Memphis Tigers. They come from Conference USA, were they are the only team who made the tournament from. Their coach, John Calipari, is the first coach to take two schools, from non-BCS conferences to the Final Four. They have two great players in Chris Douglas-Roberts and Derek Rose.

Even with no Cinderella there are some great storylines surrounding the games. Like Roy Williams facing Kansas for the first time since leaving for Carolina or the battle of the super freshman when Kevin Love’s UCLA Bruins face Derek Rose and the Memphis Tigers. Not Cinderella but, still pretty damn good.

Now maybe there is something wrong when the closest thing to Cinderella is a team who was ranked first for half the year, and went 36-1. Now please don’t take what I wrote out of context, I still the Final Four will be great, it’s the four best teams in the country, but maybe I just miss the Cinderella element of the Final Four.

Either way this weekend we are set up for a great set of games, I think UCLA will beat Memphis fairly easily, and I think North Carolina will edge Kansas.

Re: I miss Cinderella in the Final Four

my tarheels back in the final four. 4 of the nations 5 best point guards facing each other. 4 teams that were ranked in teh top 5 before the tourney started. thats all the story line i need.

but as to cinderellas. synergy can only get you so far. you cant run on fumes forever. but the good thing is that those programs will have a chance to land top recruits, and thats what starts legendary programs (indiana,kansas,UNC,kentucky..etc..etc)

Re: I miss Cinderella in the Final Four

The best four making it is a.....change. Change is good for one year.
Although I like Louisville, they were not one of the best four. But watch out North Carolina...Louisville is back now that Pitino isn't losing players he recruits and they exit to NBA before playing one year in college.
Watch out for Kentucky too. You can't keep them down for long.

Yeah, it's nice to see the four best teams make it, upset free. And hey, there was a Cinderella... their run just ended a little early this year.

Carolina is like the Patriots to me, I hate them, they run up the score, and I don't like them. But I can't pick against them. I have UCLA beating Carolina in the title game.

Get over yourself. People have the right to hate/dislike a team for whatever reason they choose, so just get over it.

Re: I miss Cinderella in the Final Four

i havent done anything to need to get over myself. i'm simply asking how you run up the score in a basketball game. i can see it in a football game or hockey but not b-ball.

o and the same way yall have a right to hate a team for watever reason, i also have the right to defend my team and/or ask why. so like me, you should also get over YOURself/it

Re: I miss Cinderella in the Final Four

Okay maybe running up the score was a bad way to put it, but Carolina is winning by 30 and the don't take out the starters? Come on, it's basically running up the score.

Williams was notorius for that at Kansas. No shocker he does the same at Carolina.

Davidson would have made a nice story...still why play the tourney to see the top four advance?...
