Well, if he had to break tackles or block defensive linemen, it'd be a big deal. But this is basketball. Durant can shoot, create, dribble, pass, and run the floor. I'm pretty sure that's good enough. In the greater scheme of things, his bench press numbers are irrelevant.

Re: Durant had a horrible workout

i would consider it slightly more important if he were a big man and had to fend off Shaq under the hoop ......... as it is he will have to fend off Kobe, not exactly a heavyweight

Re: Durant had a horrible workout

I'm not sure if I could bench 185 anymore , but I like my chances. And as pointed out by Lefty, not neccessarily that important for a B-ball player. But, he'll have to get stronger. The NBA allows so much more physical stuff than any other level of basketball. And now, the word is out - Durant isn't strong, guys will be trying to rip the ball out of his hands at every go. I still think he goes 2nd based on his pure basketball skills again, as pointed out by Lefty.

Hmm... I think arm strength would be more important on holding onto the ball than chest strength. The primary places a bench press would help him, I think, would be delivering strong chest passes, or pushing off to create scoring opportunities.

I'm impressed with a few posters on here - and that would include you too, Simple.

I'm a regular on a couple of Sports Message Boards. When football season rolls around, you'll probably find me in here a lot. I go to a Political Message board once in a while too, but those get nasty fast. People are adamant that their way is the right way. People sure do have different views on things.

Ditto...he is lanky and developing...long arms have a harder time with the press than short arms...it's not a big deal with his level of skill...no one is about to drop him from the top 2 based on that.

And if they do, they're morons. Just thought that was worth stating.

I think it's a big deal. He will be pushed around in the NBA and outmuscled. He better hit the weightroom if he's gonna play with the big boys.
