Great coaching

That last play to get UCONN tied up and into overtime was nothing but GREAT COACHING. I think that the ref had mercy on GM by not calling a foul. Here we go. Another overtime game. This tourney is getting a bit better.

Re: George Mason!!!!!!!!

First No. 11 seed to reach the tournament in two decades. And to do it by beating North Carolina, Michigan State AND UConn along the way? Priceless. Man, I hope they manage to make the Finals!

Re: George Mason!!!!!!!!

The next games won't be home games for Mason. The clock has struck midnight I think.

Cool Re: George Mason!!!!!!!!

Who knows? I never in a million years thought they would get this far. I wouldn't be shocked if they won the whole thing at this point.

This reminds of the Villinova team of '85. Crap all year. A couple of close games early in the tourney. Then they take down, North Carolina, Memphis State and Georgetown to win it all.

Anyone know of anybody who had G. Mason in their final 4?

No one I know had 'em. But if we do find anyone who does, I need them to pick some lottery numbers for me!

Re: George Mason!!!!!!!!

Call me a party pooper but I can't stand these Cinderellas. How does a loser no talent team get to the Final Four. This is the most aggravating tournament I have ever seen. Down with George Mason.

Well, not sure "no talent" describes George Mason. They had enough talent to beat the Tar Heels, the Huskies and the Spartans. I'd say that they have to be a pretty darn good basketball team to pull that off, wouldn't you agree? Or do you think they just got lucky three times in a row? I for one find that notion VERY hard to believe.

Re: George Mason!!!!!!!!

They are hardly a no talent team. I think that is what a lot of people are missing out on. The separation between the top tier teams and the middle level teams is closing quickly. I expect to see a lot more of this in the future.

Re: George Mason!!!!!!!!

Lets just consider the improbability of George Mason reaching the final four, not before the season starts, but even after their at-large bid. In Vegas they had to have been one of those 1000-1 shots, right?
George Mason does have talent, but should not be representing a region in Indy. No matter, a team as deplorable as The Huskies does not deserve to be in the final four. Talk about mailing it in every game. I have never seen a collection of guys more disinterested in their college basketball careers than UConn was this season because they are all aware they will eventually be playing in the NBA.

Re: George Mason!!!!!!!!

George Mason had an inside game with a big man that had a little hook shot and guards that could hit the three and penetrate. But what everyone has overlooked is the inability of UConn to stop George Mason from getting whatever shot they wanted. The defense was awful, and despite his 20 points, Rudy Gay once again absolutely disappeared with the game on the line.
By the way, the actual George Mason lived from 1725-1792 and basically wrote the Bill of Rights that was critical to the US Constitution. Little did he know at the time that he would be a bracket buster! If a school can win four games in a row, and defeat three teams that were NCAA champs in the past decade, who can say they do not deserve to be where they are?

Re: George Mason!!!!!!!!

This years tournament may be the clearest indicator that there is not a lot of difference between the low seeds and the high seeds when you only have one game to play. Anything can happen and it has. Best tournament ever!

Re: George Mason!!!!!!!!

However, the upsets and buzzer beaters that CBS covets so have killed their ratings! With everyone's bracket falling apart, the ratings on all four games over the weekend were down significantly from last year. This may be one of the least watched Final Fours ever, perhaps proof that it is the gambling that spurs the popularity of the NCAA tournament.
