| #1 Seeds Hey, new to the forum, but I figured I'd kick start some college basketball discussion, given that March Madness is right around the corner. So the question is, who are your four #1 seeds at this point? Basically, the way I see it is that Ohio State and UCLA are the only true locks. UCLA lost on the road to Washington today, but with the #1 RPI, they're pretty safe. As for the remaining two seeds, you have several contenders. There's Kansas, who probably has the strongest case of any team not named OSU or UCLA to get a #1 seed, but there are questions about their RPI. While it's rather arbitrary and controversial, the RPI does still matter, and the last I checked, they were only #16. When teams like North Carolina, Wisconsin, Florida, Pittsburgh, and even Southern Illinois have better RPI's, it'd be kind of hard to both support the RPI and Kansas as a #1 seed. Ultimately though, I think that not many people on the selection committee do think that highly of the RPI, as they've really snubbed some great teams with high RPI's in the past in favor of some lesser-deserving big name schools. Kansas, in my opinion, is getting the third #1 seed, provided that they can win the Big 12 conference. For the last #1 seed, it really depends on conference tournaments. If North Carolina, Wisconsin, Florida, and Pittsburgh all won their conference tournaments, the selection committee would likely give the bid to North Carolina or Florida, but I personally think that Wisconsin would be the most deserving, even without Brian Butch. They've got the perfect players for the swing offense in Alando Tucker, Greg Stiemsma, and Kammron Taylor. This isn't the most talented team Bo Ryan's ever had. I think that'd probably be the team he had with Kirk Penney and Mike Wilinkson, but this is definitely the team that fits into his system the best, and in my opinion, the first team he's coached with a legitimate shot at the national title. I'm interested in hearing what everyone else predicts. |

| Re: #1 Seeds With UCLA's back-to-back losses, I'm not sure that they ARE guaranteed a #1 seed anymore. You've got six teams, IMO, who could be top seeds: the Bruins, OSU, Wisconsin, Florida, Kansas, North Carolina. A lot of it will depend upon how the conference tourneys shake down.
