Cool I thought Albany had it

I thought my alma-mater SUNY Albany was going to pull off the upset, once they got up 10 and Connecticut was so out of whack.

To be honest, I'm a bandwagon Albany basketball fan. I never attended one game in my 4 years of going to that school (they were Division 3 in the 1980's). No way I was going to let any basketball game infringe with my drinking time.

Albany gave UConn all they could handle. Maybe I am wrong to have UConn winning it all in my brackets.

I think that UConn will recover from this scare and make a run. This is probably what they needed to show them that they need to be on top of their game every night.

Re: I thought Albany had it

UConn really missed Rudy Gay in this game. What's that? He was playing? Oh, I never noticed him out there.
This guy is a great, great talent. One of the few players with an intermediate jumper that he can get off whenever he wants. Why he does not get more involved is beyond me. If he had the mindset of a Ray Allen or a Richard Hamilton when they were at UConn, this tournament's result would be a foregone conclusion. Something or somebody has to light a fire under Gay, but if Jim Calhoun cannot, I do not know who can.
He needs to stay in school one more season to refine his game, but sometimes there is alot that goes on behind the scenes that you are never told about. UConn is the only show in town here in Connecticut, and the media, with the exception of Hartford Courant columnist Jeff Jacobs, treats the program like it is the Catholic Church of the Sixties. Gay might hate Calhoun's guts for all we know, or vice versa. There is always more going on than the public is allowed to know.
