CBS is garbage...

Every year it's the same thing. I get excited about seeing the NCAA tournament, and especially the first two rounds. Four full days of "win or go home" basketball. To me there is nothing better.

64 teams that have spent an entire year in their respective leagues practicing and attempting to develop as players and as teams. It culminates in March, when the "best" 64 are paired against each other.
And one team will win 6 games, and along with it the truest of championships in all of sports, at least in my opinon.

But back to the first two rounds. Schools you have a passing knowledge of. So little you challenge your buddies to a game of "what state is that school in?" It really becomes exciting when they win, or at least present a competive effort and produce a sound byte or clip that will be used over and over again for years to come. Alla' the bryce drew three.

Thrusday I skip work or at least take a half day to go home or to a buddies house to watch the game. That is if they are man enough to take a half day on what is a true American holiday. I get my beer and my chips and the dissapointment begins.

I always get stuck with a crappy game to begin with in my market. But i really don't mind because sometimes what appears at first to be a bad game develops into a classic.

No, what I have problem with is much more administrative than that.

1. Why do the first four games of the day have to begin at the exact same time? This just ensures that they will go to half time at the same time and end at the same time. Great.... More Clark Kellog and Seth Davis for me. By the way, who the hell is Seth Davis?

2. Cinderella is up by 2 with seven minutes left in the second half and I'm watching big conference power house embarrass little sisters of the poor. Swith the friggin' game you idiots. I will actually yell this at my television as if it would do any good. I actually went as far as calling my local affiliate years ago, it did no good.

3. CBS now has apprently solved all of these problems by offering all the games on pay-per-view. Screw you CBS. When I was a kid ESPN actually did tourney games. You would have a game on the major network and there would be a game on ESPN that you could switch to.
The benefit of ESPN is their much more flexible programming schedule. They are one national station and are not tied down by regional markets, they can simply switch to a game with the touch of a button.

4. Those friggin' CBS promotional adds. I have never watched Nash Bridges, I have an ongoing boycott of David Leterman, and the idea for the "blind cop show" was about the most rediculous thing I've ever heard. Stop showing me the same pro-mo's over and over again, I'm not gonna' watch it. In fact there would be a greater chance of me watching them if you didn't show them to me, because I wouldn't see how dumb they were.

My message goes to all Networks. Please... I mean Pleeeeeeaseee Please Please.... Save me from CBS. When there contract is up with the NCAA in 2050 or whenever please take it from them. SAVE ME!!!!

Re: CBS is garbage...

I agree. ESPN covering the early rounds of the tournament are sorely missed. My only question is what would NBC, ABC, or Fox do different if they get the tourney? ESPN is a true sports network dedicated 24 hours a day to sports. The NCAA as well as the entire nation would be better served if ESPN were to cover the entire tournament. However, that also would mean more Dick Vitale who has become possibly the most irritating sports commentator since Howard Cossell. It still would be better than the amateur job we get from CBS.

Re: CBS is garbage...

Who dey,
Judging by your name I am assuming you live in Ohio, I don't know in what region nor will I ask. But if it is in Columbus (or maybe all of Ohio, i have no way of knowing) and you have Time Warner they offer all four regional telecasts on channels 88-91. The channels will differ from city to city.
