Fear Wichita State Fear the Shockers this year. By beating LSU 57-53 on Saturday, the only place they can go is up. Right now the only ranked opponent left on their schedule is Syracuse on December 2 at Syracuse (mark your calendars). After that, they do enter a tough MVC but having already grabbed a #22 ranking, this team could end up a Top Ten team come February and be not just a bracket buster but a solid 2 or 3 seed (should they win the MVC). A team that gets most of its points from 3 seniors and 3 juniors, this team I feel will cause a lot of problems for a lot of teams this year.

Wichita State is a joke. Sorry. They ran up a big lead on the Cuse in the first half but Syracuse shut them down for the final nine minutes of the game holding them to only one field goal and that was a goal-tending call. After Syracuse tied the game, Nichols had a break away steal but blew the wide open layup that would have given Syracuse the lead. Top 25 teams don't get shut down completely for nine minutes. When SYracuse got serious, Wichita State fell apart. Besides Syracuse beating Syracuse should not make Wichita State a top 16 team, especially since the rest of their schedule is a joke and it will be difficult to drop them if they go undefeated. There will be more deserving teams for the number 16 spot.

Re: Fear Wichita State All I see is two good wins, a strong contender for the Missouri Valley Conference, which features a lot of mid-major teams that have beaten and caused havoc in the NCAA Tourney. Am I a Wichita State fan? Heck no, but I know a team that plays well together when I see one. Fear this team because they have no fear themselves. On a nuetral court in the NCAA tourney, I think you'll see this team go toe to toe with a number of contenders and do very well......

Re: Fear Wichita State Looking at their cream puff schedule, Wichita State will probably finish the season undefeated if they are half as good as you say. And people will say, "Well just how good are they?" they beat LSU and Syracuse early in the year- Oh-MY. The truth is the toughest part of Wichita State's schedule is over. For the Big East, SEC and other major conferences, the toughest part of their schedule hasn't started yet. It's just been warm-ups against mid majors before going into conference play. Yea, two big upsets for Wichita State look good but their play has not been impressive enough to get excited about. They were shut down completely by a Syracuse team that probably won't make the elite eight this year. Sadly, Wichita State wont' be tested again until the NCAAs so they only have these two wins to hang their season on. Personally I don't think they beat a battle tested Syracuse or LSU again if they meet again in March. Lots of division one powerhouses in the big east and the SEC will defeat Syracuse and LSU before this season is over. The difference is those victories won't make the season for those thems the way it seems to have for fans of Wichita State. It's a grind and you guys seem to be exicted over nothing. Before the season is over, LSU has to face last year's national champion Florida. Syracuse has to face #2 Pitt, UCONN and both teams face a host of talented conference teams. They probably won't finish with with as good a record as Wichita State because of their level of competition. Sorry if I'm spoiling your celebration and your day but mid-majors aren't taken seriously. Yea James Mason beat UCONN by two points in double overtime in last year's NCAA but then JM got embarassed by Fla. Also keep in mind, the UCONN players are now all in the NBA, the JM players are shooting the hoops in their local neighborhood playgrounds. My point is, if St. Johns beat LSU and Syracuse this early in the season, St. Johns fans know they still may not make the NCAA or even the Big East tournament. But with those two victories, it sounds like the party is raging at Wichita State. God Bless.

| Re: Fear Wichita State Well, #8 Wichita State suffered their first loss yesterday, falling 71-68 to unranked New Mexico in the third round of the Las Vegas Classic. In all fairness, the team was without their second-leading scorer, F P.J. Couisnard, but one has to wonder... is this the end of the Shockers' Cinderella run this season?
