I don't follow college hoops, but I do love me some Bobby Knight. All I've seen all morning is Bobby giving one of his players "a little love"...

Should he be fired...No.
Maybe a little slap on the wriest and a warning. If not for the coaches history, this one wouldn't be such a biggy.

Holts, Hayes....all the greats have had similar offenses.

I personally dont think what he did was that big of a deal. Having said that, I would LOVE to see somebody slap him one time.

Now see, if a kid decks him, I' bet he would be out of school...I like Knight...but fair is fair...he should get a little love back...

Hate to admit it but I lived in Indiana for a while, a place where Bobby Knight is still worshipped like a rock star, and I too found myself trying to resist the urge to "reach out and touch him with much love..."

He is pretty full of himself, and a few other things that manners will not allow me to list...

I think it has and will be blwon out of proportion by ESPN...the latest incident. He didn't hit the kid, he whacked him with his finger and told him to PAY ATTENTION.

Now, if Knight ever physically assaults a kid again, the kid has all the right in the world to defend himself.

I don't think what he did was that big of a deal, but it was not my child. I may feel differently if it were my son.

I also don't think anybody would be making a big deal out of this if Knight wan't a jerk his whole life.

The kid said he was OK with it, him Mom said she was OK with it... that makes it a non-issue.

One thing though: I would never send my kid to play for him in the first place. Anybody who lets their kid play for this guy has to know this kind of stuff can happen.

Knight is as galvanizing a figure as there is in sports, and maybe further beyond. From what I have read, and I have not seen the incident if there is footage, this is nothing compared to what he has done in the past. Personally, I like Knight, but cannot defend alot of his actions. Sending a son to play for him is not much different than encouraging him to enlist in the military, except that he is not going to get himself shot at. Knight does so many good things that he does not get or seek credit for, but the media jumps on the many opportunities he gives them to put him down. I once read where a typical Bobby Knight fan is also a Yankee fan, a Notre Dame football fan, and a Republican. I am guilty of all three!

I think you can get players (and fans) to respect you without having to use violence. Yes, some people have tempers and can get so impassioned by an event or their job, but there is really no excuse for hitting or grabbing someone to make your point. I am sure he is a great coach fundamentally and tactically and he has a ton of experience...let that do the talking.
