Kerry Wood has signed his first ever free agent contract. He signed it with none other than the Cleveland Indians. The contract is a 2-year one for $20.5 million dollars.



Was this a good deal by the Cleveland Indians?

No. That's way too much money for such an unreliable, injury prone pitcher.
The kid has potential, and I could see signing him for a low, incentive-laden deal, but not $10 million plus a year!

Nice to see you again Lefty, ya I agree. I also think the best closers are never signed in free agents. They come up through the system.

Good to see you too, and to be back here. Yeah, I absolutely agree with you. You know, I was for this signing when I first heard about it, assuming it was a low risk, high potential reward kind of deal. I didn't realize it was for $20 million over two years! That might wind up being $5 million a save with this kid's history.
