| Sabathia hammered by A's Indians P C.C. Sabathia got shelled by the A's in yesterday's 6-1 loss. Sabathia "gave up four runs, six hits, and four walks in 5 1-3 innings and has a 7.59 ERA after two starts this season," according to the AP. So what the heck's up with this guy? He sure doesn't seem to have it all together thus far. Dana Eveland wins Oakland debut, A's rough up C.C. Sabathia in 6-1 win over Indians - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

| Re: Sabathia hammered by A's He has never really learned the art of pitching IMO---get the batters out the easiest way you can. Instead, he has relied on his natural talent, which has resulted in his throwing enormous numbers of pitches to get to the fifth or sixth inning. He must lead the league in number of pitches per batter faced. I suspect this is going to be a difficult season for him, because he doesn't pitch well under pressure and never has. His cash quest, put together with his miserable start, has greatly increased the pressure he is pitching under. I'm sure he'll have some good days along the way, but 14 or 15 wins might be the best he can do. Teams would be nuts to commit major money to someone who can't do better than that. |
