Bye Bye Cleveland Indians

Sorry to say it but the Indians have failed to get to the World Series yet again. Lefty, I know it sucks but there is life after a Game 7 LCS loss. At least the Indians didn't give up a big home run and lose by two runs like the Mets did last year.

The Indians have a solid young team but it just didn't come together in the crunch.

Breathe in, breathe out...everything's gonna be alright.

That's it exactly. Our top two starters couldn't win a game, Hafner had an 0-for-16 run that included 10 strikeouts, Sizemore couldn't get going... seemed like only Victor Martinez was hitting with any consistancy. To go up 3-1 in the series and lose the last three games by a combined 30-5 margain is just pathetic. They have a history of naming great blunders in Cleveland sports history - "The Drive", "The Fumble"... well, they're calling this one "The Collapse".

Re: Bye Bye Cleveland Indians

Hafner was an automatic out and has changes his first name to Travesty.
Cabrera acquitted himself well.
Garko had one meaningful hit.
Lofton played okay, he was obviously safe at second, not that it ultimately mattered.
The third base coach made the mistake of a lifetime for that position.
And how about Pedroia just about standing at home on a 310 foot home run a row into the seats?

You're right, legend, and all of it was absolutely brutal to watch. I think deep down I knew these guys would break their fans hearts.

Cool Re: Bye Bye Cleveland Indians

Nice play by Joel Skinner holding up Lofton, huh? I would fire him, this morning. if the Indians score that run, the game might end up totally different.

Also, did it ever occur to Eric Wedge to start a runner at first base to avoid hitting into a double play?

No way should Skinner get the axe. He's the scapegoat? If the final score was 3-2, maybe. But the Indians pen blew it anyway.

You can't fire a guy because of what may have happened.

Yeah, that botched hold-up really hurt us, but it's not like you can blame that one thing alone. The Tribe found plenty of ways to lose.

Re: Bye Bye Cleveland Indians

Boston just plays looser and better when their backs are against the wall. It's that simple.
Did anyone else find it incredibly odd that a player from an opposing team in their own division, Kevin Millar, threw out the first pitch and then gave the starting Boston lineup on FOX? I would have to assume that the Orioles are voiding his contract as we speak, if he still is signed to one in Baltimore.

this, of course, is all just speculation ...... so let me throw mine in there

what if the play happened another way ... what if Lofton were thrown out at the plate and the Tribe lost 3-2 ...... could have happened

Nope, Boston asked for and received permission from Baltimore for him to do it. They requested similar permission from the Mets for Pedro but were refused.

Then that tells me all I will ever have to know about the Orioles' organization.
