| Indians pennant race Currently, the Cleveland Indians magic number is 11, meaning any combination of 11 wins and Detroit Tiger losses will give them the AL Central division crown. So I'm guessing its all but a foregone conclusion that they'll reach the playoffs this year. How do you think they match-up against other possible postseason teams?

| Re: Indians pennant race Well you would have to say we can match up with just about anybody with Carmona Sabathia and Byrd. After that the bull pens shaky at best and the lineup can score runs in bunches when they are on a streak. All we can pretty much hope for is that the indians stay hot. Because the fact this team cannot produce runs by playing small ball becasue of the lack of athletes and bad coaching. This also means we will most likely not be able to win the world series becasue of this. National leauge ball plays with bunts steals and hit and runs we can not match up well with speed. Also the fact Joe "blow" Borowski scares the crap out of me in tight situations he can't handle it! Ok yes he does lead the league in saves but look at what hes done agianst the top-teir teams aka(the teams we'll face in the playoffs) also the number of hits and earned runs per inning pitch the numbers don't lie hes not that good! So even though they've made much improvement since last year this team isn't very much off the '05 team that just barely miss the playoffs.Look this team needs another clutch hitter besides Martinez and at least one or two more soild pitchers coming out of that bull pen. Before we can ever consider a World Championship in Cleveland. But they did an alright job and i'm happy to finally see a Central division crown in Cleveland again. |

| Re: Indians pennant race I think people are selling the Tribe too short. They have 2 dominating pitchers and a sevicable starter in Byrd. If I were other teams in the post season, I would be worried about facing them. All you have to do is win a series. If CC and Carmona are on their game, they have a legitimate shot. It should be a fun post season around here anyway you look at it.

| Re: Indians pennant race The Indians have dropped their magic number to 5 with a 7-4 win over Detroit yesterday. According to the Associated Press, "Travis Hafner hit a three-run homer, Martinez had a solo shot and Cleveland unloaded for four homers off Detroit ace Justin Verlander on Tuesday night... Now 19-5 since Aug. 25, the Indians raised their lead in the AL Central to 6 1/2 games over second-place Detroit, which may have needed to sweep the three-game series to have any shot of catching Cleveland."
