Sabathia A-Rod trade rumors

Couldn't believe my eyes when I read this, but according the Akron Beacon Journal, there are rumors that the Yankees are after C.C. Sabathia. The paper seems to think Alex Rodriguez either is or could be part of the deal. I can't imagine this actually working out for the Tribe, either in terms of payroll or clubhouse. Andy Marte hasn't worked out at third, though. This deal's almost too crazy to even take seriously. It'll never happen... er, will it?

Are you kidding me this is such a bogus trade rumor, I mean hitting wise right now A-Rod is the only one who is actually consistent in its hitting for once and they picked up Roger the Rocket, They are desperate, but not desperate enough to do this deal. Cashman would'nt even give a second thought...

I'd have to say this is bogus, too. The Yanks may be desperate for pitching...but that desperate?

Well, just to play devil's advocate here... why WOULDN'T you deal a guy you were 80% sure was getting set to walk anyway, and get a perrennial AL Cy Young Award candidate like Sabathia in return? What you lose out of A-Rod in production this year you more than make up for long-term with a guy like Sabathia.

Re: Sabathia A-Rod trade rumors

Unless the Yanks paid for a lot of his salary, I don't think they could pay for A-Rod. In fact, there are grumblings around here about Hafner and Sabathia. They become free agents at the same time. They can not afford to pay for both of them. A-Rod makes more than them combined, I think.

Re: Sabathia A-Rod trade rumors

I know the yanks are desperate for bettering the bullpen but I dont see this happening. You dont trade a guy that has 14 hr and 37 rbi's and 32 runs after a month and few days, aint happinin'..Indians dont have the gold to pay him anyway..

Good point but A-Rod's bat has been way too good to move. It's not like they have someone who can move to third and even be half as productive.

That Roger Clemens deal can't be light on their payroll.

A-Rod wanted to be a Yankee.

A-Rod is a Yankee.

A-Rod will retire an Indian?

Maybe we can give them Andy Marte.

Now, in all seriousness, I agree - this deal will never happen. Cleveland can't afford A-Rod, the Yankees probably have no intention of dealing him and quite franky, the Tribe probably would like to keep Sabathia around too.
