| Indians Interview Ex-Nationals Manager
Former Washington manager Manny Acta has been interviewed by the Cleveland Indians for their managerial opening.
Acta, fired by the Nationals in July, spoke with Indians general manager Mark Shapiro by phone earlier this week. The Indians are conducting initial interviews with candidates by phone from their training complex in Goodyear, Ariz. The team plans to bring finalists to Cleveland for a second round of interviews.
Acta said in an e-mail to The Associated Press that he was excited about the opportunity and the Indians told him they would get back to him next week.
The Indians fired Eric Wedge in the final days of their worst season since 1991.
Acta will interview with Houston on Friday for their manager’s job.
