Cavs add Shaq

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Phoenix Suns have come to an agreement on a blockbuster trade that sends Shaquille O'Neal to Cleveland to team with LeBron James, according to sources.

The deal has been agreed to in principle and is expected to be finalized Thursday, according to sources.

Cleveland will send Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to Phoenix for the future Hall of Famer. Sources said the Suns will also receive the 46th pick in Thursday's NBA draft and $500,000

You know, I know Cleveland needed a big man. And I know Shaq had a decent season last year. But this isn't the answer. I would've much rather Cleveland just been smart and try to draft and develop a center. Shaq's too old and his ego's too big to be a second banana to King James.

Do I see a ghost? Who is this? Are you new?!?!?!

Lol, sorry Lefty I like this trade, keep in mind they gave a past his prime ok defensive specialist and Sasha Pavolavic. They because stole Shaq from Cleveland. I don't they are done, or at least they shouldn't be, but Shaq is a big help. (No pun intended) They still need another a shooter off the bench and a perimeter defender that can take pressure off LeBron, like Ariza or Posey. Shaq is nice, but they aren't the best yet

Naw...the Cavs want to win now, not develop someone...and Shaq may want one more ring...he will let James do the regular season, and ask him to wake him up for the final two playoff series...it can work.

No, James cant carry this team another year. He needs help. But not sure an aging superstar is the answer.

It's not the answer but it's a help, why is everyone calling Shaq washed up, he was rejuvinated last year. 18 points, 8 rebounds per game that's great for a guy at his age at his size. Keep in mind they basically got him for free! They took Ben Wallace's awful contract off the books for 2011, John Paxson's worst move. Sasha Pavlavic who really gives a crap, he'll get bought out. Not mention all the money the Shaq contract takes off their cap for 2010. I think they still need a perimeter defender but maybe that's Danny Green who they drafted tonight that was his role at UNC maybe it can be here. They need a defenser stopper and an established 2 guard (which could be the same guy if they play it right) But I think they are at least a little better with Shaq

You're right, the money thing is a big deal. But apparently James wanted Shaq in Cleveland. He must expect great things out of Shaq.
And after all the times Shaq slammed Dwight Howard, Howard is going to take great joy in putting the Shaq down on the court.
When I saw Shaq play, it was like watching an elephant lumber down the floor.
But I will give you a little better.

Maybe, but I'm glad to see they went center in the draft as well. They needed a new big man and now they've got two.

Re: Cavs add Shaq

Bette, LeBron can carry the Cavs to the play-offs again. Once they are there though, we will see if Shaq can help.

No he cant. That was one tired, angry guy. And is everyone so sure Shaq will come across for him if they would get there? (Which they wont)
Seems to me Shaq was really good at sticking the knife in Howard's back. Probably because thats all he can do. He's jealous of Howard because he knows Howard will be better than Shaq ever was.

Re: Cavs add Shaq

Without LeBron, the Cavs would be a bad team. That being said, with LeBron, there are some players who still show up and play well. Especially Mo Williams. There are bright spots in that roster besides LeBron, and with Shaq they just added another one.

The Cavs will ATLEAST get to where they were last year.
