Cool Cavs Renew Brown's Contract

CLEVELAND (AP) -- For the first time in recent memory, the Cleveland Cavaliers made an off-season coaching move that didn't involve someone being hired or fired.
Mike Brown, who led Cleveland to 50 regular-season wins and the second round of the NBA playoffs in his first year as coach, was rewarded Thursday as the club picked up his $2.5 million contract option. Brown signed a three-year, $10 million deal with the option last June when he was named the 17th coach in franchise history -- and the Cavs' sixth in six years.

Good for them...he did a good job...though he should shine Lebron's shoes every chance he gets... ...Which begs the question...how much was it Lebron...how much was it the coaching?

Re: Cavs Renew Brown's Contract

I'm sure it was mostly LeBron, but this is a case of don't fix what ain't broke. The Cavs are a team on the rise, so why change coaches now? A couple of more pieces fall into place and this may be a team we see playing in the Finals every year fairly soon.

...yeah, you know...a player like Lebron can make a or break a coaching career...a lot easier to coach or sign on other players when you got a center piece like Lebron...

Cool Re: Cavs Renew Brown's Contract

The other night after Game 7, Lebron didn't sound too thrilled with Mike Brown. Maybe it was just a heat of the moment type of thing.

Re: Cavs Renew Brown's Contract

Good point, Gotham Dark Knight.

Since the franchise is built around LeBron James, I think LeBron could change anything that happens. If LeBron were to make a deal of Mike Brown, he would never have gotten another year in Cleveland. But since he didn't (yet), I think he will have a nice ride in Cleveland.

LeBron James had a good run at the Playoffs this year. Actually, they did much better than I expect. Who would have thought it would come to Game Seven against the past NBA champions?
