Cool Cavs make out like bandits.

Quote:
In a complex, 11-player swap involving Cleveland, Chicago and Seattle, Ferry dealt half his active roster to acquire center Ben Wallace and forward Joe Smith from the Bulls, and forward Wally Szczerbiak and guard Delonte West from the SuperSonics
.

They now have some serious defensive presence in the paint, rebounding, and maybe even more importantly, a player who is lethal from the outside in Wally who can take some pressure off Lebron. And they didn't give up diddly squat, IMO.

This makes them a contender in the East without a doubt. Everybody else?

Re: Cavs make out like bandits.

Well, thats a whole different opinon than what I have, what most other Cavs fans I've talked to have, and what most pundits seem to have. Most to the reaction's been negative. Wallace is overpaid and has been dogging it. I personally really liked Hughes, so I hate seeing him leave. Maybe if they start winning and Wallace shows me something, I'll change my mind, but this deal's left me lukewarm, at best.

I think Wallace next to Lebron won't dog it...he has a few series in him...I believe...

I love this deal because I'm a Bulls fan but from this deal isn't that great coming for the Cavs point of view. For a few reasons.

Drew Gooden is a much better scorer than Wallace (yes Lefty it's Wallace ). Plus Ben Wallace and Illguakis (yes I know I spelled it wrong so don't get on me for it) are both awful scorers who will take up a bunch of space on the court.

Wally is way to old to be the second man on a team. But Smith and West will give some depth.

I have to disagree with you here. Z is a very good scoring threat. He is always one of the options the team has on offense. I always thought his weakness was his lack of toughness. He got exposed against Haywood last year in the playoffs. That is why I think they got Wallace. He will not be pushed around like Z was.

That's a great point Gotham. It's sort of like Moss going to the Pats. I think Wallace will be on his good behavior. But he also gives the Cavs some really good defensive presence.....And one thing Szerbiack can do is shoot. He'll be a great outlet for Lebron when he gets tripled teamed.
