| Re: Browns TV Station lawsuit Anyone following this story? Cleveland Browns owner Randy Lerner announced that he was going to break his team's contract with WOIO-TV, who had the rights to broadcast Browns games. Lerner is upset with the station because they aired tapes of a 911 call his sister "placed after she found her 6-year-old daughter drowned in a creek on family property July 9," says the above article. Now the station is suing Lerner for $25,000 in damages because, while tastleless, it is perfectly legal to air 911 calls as they are part of the public record. The station looks to have a strong case, don't you think?

| Re: Browns TV Station lawsuit $25,000 is well worth breaking the contract. There is a certain set of ethics by which you must follow in the media, and unfortunately for us today, stations do all that they can to expose the entire story to get a leg up on the competition and to keep viewers coming back for more. The Lerner family is well-respected in Cleveland and it is a shame what they have had to go through recently under sad circumstances. |
