Browns Will Bring Jamal Lewis Back

I must confess, when the Browns signed Jamal Lewis to a one-year contract early this year, I thought it was a mistake. I figured Lewis, who was averaging about three and a half yards a carry the last couple years, was totally washed up.

But Lewis is having a very good season for the Browns, and now Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the Browns plan to bring Lewis back next season.
Lewis has 1,176 rushing yards and nine touchdowns this year, meaning he has reached the incentives that will raise his pay for the year to $5 million. He will be an unrestricted free agent after the season, and there's a good chance that he'll want more than $5 million a year. Apparently the Browns have concluded that he's worth it.

Did Baltimore mess up when they let him go?

I wouldn't say they messed up by not resigning him. They got a talented younger RB in McGahee

This is the first legitimate star RB that Cleveland has had since Jim Brown. It is a good move keeping him.

I'm actually glad to see this - Lewis had more left in the tank than I thought - but I'd still like to see them start grooming a younger replacement too.

If they can't trade up to get McFadden, I would like to see them get Stewart from Oregon.

How does Jamal rank on the all-time list? better than Dillon or Barber?
